A big surprise was brewing among the ocean reefs!

El pez payaso y sus amigos habrán de hacer un maravilloso evento “El torreo de las corrientes”

The clownfish and his friends were about to host a wonderful event: «The Currents Tournament.»

Alineación: arbitro pez cirujano amarillo vibrante, experto en las reglas del futbol y el juego limpio.

Referee: A vibrant yellow tang, an expert on soccer rules and fair play.

Equipo: Las barracudas oscuras, conformado por don tortugon, el caballito verde y la mantarraya gris, el otro equipo llamado Payazos contaban con el caballito de mar azul, el pez globo y el pulpo tintitas, gran portero.

Team: The Dark Barracudas, consisting of Don Tortugón, the Green Seahorse, and the Gray Manta Ray; the opposing team, the Clowns, featured the Blue Seahorse, the Pufferfish, and Tintitas the Octopus—a great goalkeeper.

Ambos equipos ya estaban listos para disfrutar cerca del arrecife dorado aquel partido de futbol, aaah por cierto el balón era una espora que parecía tener una forma redonda, parecida a un balón.

Both teams were ready to enjoy the soccer match near the golden reef—oh, and by the way, the ball was a spore that looked round, just like a soccer ball.

Pero a la mantarraya no le gustaba perder así que ya estaba planeando que hacer, arrimo a su equipo y dijo hay que ganar como sea ¡Grandes artimañas encontraremos para ganar, aquí nadie se hace para atrás! Y que se escucha listos ¡Caracoles negros empieza el partido!

But the manta ray didn’t like to lose, so he was already plotting his next move; he gathered his team and said, «We have to win at all costs! We’ll come up with some great tricks to secure the victory—no backing down here!» Then came the call: «Ready? Black Snails, let the match begin!»

El pez Globo disfrutaba de tanta habilidad pasando a sus amigos aquella espora “Balón” en dirección a la portería submarina, que emoción, el público marino les aplaudía con emoción, don tortugon listo se puso para tapar aquel tiro a gol, pero en un descuido el pez payaso remato con el caballito de mar y realizaron un giro inesperado parecido a un “Chanfle” y casi, casi aquel balón entraba, ¡Woow, Que susto!

The Pufferfish was so skillful at passing the «Ball» spore to his friends toward the underwater goal—what excitement! The marine crowd cheered them on enthusiastically. Wise old Don Tortugón got into position to block the shot, but in a moment of distraction, the Clownfish and the Seahorse teamed up for a strike; they pulled off an unexpected swerve—like a «banana kick»—and the ball *almost* went in. Wow, what a close call!

Todos los seres marinos felices y las porristas de las sardinas con algas marinas formaban un ¡viva, viva, viva! Grandes burbujas de alegría en aquel estadio, en donde se disfrutaba el torneo de las corrientes.

All the sea creatures were happy, and the sardine cheerleaders, decked out in seaweed, chanted «Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah!» Great bubbles of joy filled the stadium where the Currents Tournament was taking place.

Pero que don tortugon hábilmente con la aleta les quito el balón y torció la dirección del trayecto logrando cambiar para el otro lado. Todos estaban muy emocionados y que se acaba el primer tiempo. Las barracudas negras entonces planeaban ganar de forma ventajosa. Al volver a tocar el grito de inicio de aquel pez amarillo ¡Caracoles submarinos que continue el juego!

But then, Don Tortugón skillfully used his fin to steal the ball and alter its trajectory, sending it the other way. Everyone was thrilled—and just like that, the first half ended. The Black Barracudas were plotting to win by any means necessary. Then, the yellow fish sounded the starting cry again: «By underwater snails, let the game continue!»

Don tortugon le tiro un trabonazo a “Tintitas” el saco sus 8 tentáculos y paro el balón, entonces lo empezaron a insultar por no permitir la anotación, pero Tintinas no regreso la agresión.

Don Tortugón unleashed a powerful shot at «Tintitas,» who extended his eight tentacles and stopped the ball; he was then insulted for preventing the goal, but Tintitas didn’t retaliate.

El pez globo aprovecho el descuido y con toda su redondes que le anota a la mantarraya ¡Gooool! eso no le gusto, discutiendo lo evidente la entrada de aquel balón a la portería, el árbitro el pez amarillo vibrante le saco una amarilla y eso menos le gusto, ya casi llegarían a los golpes. Eso ¡NO! si solo es un juego.

The pufferfish took advantage of a lapse in attention and, using his full roundness, scored a goal against the manta ray—*Goal!* The ray didn’t like that at all; he argued against the obvious fact that the ball had entered the net, so the referee—a vibrant yellow fish—showed him a yellow card. That made him even angrier, and things nearly came to blows. No! It’s just a game, after all.

Así que muy enojados empezaron a jalonear a él Tintitas sin motivo, al pez payazo y hasta el caballito de mar de tanto jale y jale por poco les rompen la camiseta.

Furious, they started shoving Tintitas around for no reason; there was so much yanking and pulling that they nearly tore the jerseys right off the clownfish and even the seahorse.

Then the referee blew his whistle loudly and said, «Calm down, everyone; you have to know how to lose. The game is for having fun, not for hitting—and certainly not for attacking. So, are we going to play fair, or do we end the game right here?»

Todos guardaron cierto silencio, quietos entonces las Barracudas se dieron cuenta que estaban actuando mal y pidieron renovar el juego, los tiburones que también disfrutaban de aquel evento aplaudieron con sus aletas, apoyaron esa decisión, disfrutar no pegar.

A hush fell over the group; standing still, the Barracudas realized they had been behaving badly and asked to resume the match. The Sharks, who were also enjoying the event, clapped their fins in support of the decision: the goal was to have fun, not to hit.

El pez globo retomo el ritmo se la paso a don tortugo y en una escapadita limpia también entro el balón, ¡Goooool! El partido se puso interesante y mas jugando limpio, disfrutando todos los jugadores de ambos equipos, pero el tiempo es implacable dando por terminado aquel partido tan movido, entonces llego don cangrejo con un trofeo y declaro empate que todos habían ganado al jugar limpio y todos abrazaron aquel trofeo.

The Pufferfish picked up the pace, passed the ball to Mr. Turtle, and—with a clean, quick breakaway—the ball went in. *Goal!* The match became exciting—especially with fair play and everyone on both teams enjoying themselves—but time waits for no one, and the lively game came to an end. Then Mr. Crab arrived with a trophy and declared a draw, stating that everyone had won by playing fairly; together, they all embraced the trophy.

Cada uno se despidió amablemente, muy cerca de aquel bello coral color naranja rojo muy felices, el pez payazo y ahora todos sus amigos esperarían con gusto el siguiente partido para disfrutar jugar limpio, el torneo de las corrientes había acabado. Hasta el próximo año.

Everyone said their goodbyes—happy and gathered near a beautiful orange-red coral reef. The Clownfish and all his friends looked forward to the next match where they could enjoy playing fair; the Currents Tournament had come to a close. Until next year.
