SPAIN: Mª JOSÉ PERIS AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE AS AN ACTRESS AND SINGER Prize by and for women «Valencia City of the Grail»

Con el hashtag #verysentirlacultura se presentan desde hace cinco años los premios «VALENCIA, CIUDAD DEL GRIAL» a la excelencia femenina dentro del programa de mecenazgo de «Centro Óptico Losán» con el que su responsable, Esther Santillana, pretende impulsar y dar visibilidad a las mujeres. Que con su trabajo y talento hacen brillar el panorama cultural y artístico» de una ciudad que me ha dado tanto y que, entiendo, merece mayor reconocimiento.» Orgullosa de sus orígenes humildes, ésta manchega de Villanueva de los Infantes en Ciudad Real, nos anima » a conocer mi pueblo porque es precioso y con mucha historia». Emprendedora desde hace algo más de dos décadas, reside en Valencia donde ejerce como optometrista.

With the hashtag #verysentirlacultura, the «VALENCIA, CIUDAD DEL GRAIL» awards for female excellence have been presented for five years within the patronage program of «Centro Óptico Losán» with which its manager, Esther Santillana, intends to promote and give visibility to women. That with their work and talent they make the cultural and artistic scene shine «of a city that has given me so much and that, I understand, deserves greater recognition.» Proud of her humble origins, this La Mancha woman from Villanueva de los Infantes in Ciudad Real encourages us «to get to know my town because it is beautiful and with a lot of history». An entrepreneur for more than two decades, she lives in Valencia where she works as an optometrist.

María José Peris Aliaga, la premiada, ha dedicado su vida al teatro. Dotada con una voz prodigiosa asume que » la gente del teatro, en general, vivimos en una constante crisis. El momento actual no es nuevo para nosotros ya que somos funambulistas que se mueven  por  una  invisible  cuerda  f loja». Unida sentimentalmente al escenógrafo y arquitecto Carlos Montesinos ( especializado en la arquitectura, diseño y mejoras de los recintos teatrales y miembro de la Academia de las Artes Escénicas de España) queda claro que, todo en su vida, gira en torno al mundo de la cultura y la interpretación.

María José Peris Aliaga, the winner, has dedicated her life to theater. Gifted with a prodigious voice, she assumes that «theater people, in general, live in a constant crisis. The current moment is not new for us since we are tightrope walkers who move along an invisible tightrope». Sentimentally linked to the set designer and architect Carlos Montesinos (specialized in the architecture, design and improvements of theater venues and member of the Academy of the Performing Arts of Spain) it is clear that everything in his life revolves around the world of culture and performance.

Ha trabajado en los mejores teatros de España y formó parte de la mítica compañia catalana Dagoll Dagom. Cuenta en su haber  con un   amplio repertorio  de       diferentes papeles  en teatro, musicales, cine y tv. Interpretó a Dña. Aurora en la exitosa serie de Canal 9 «L´Alqueria Blanca» y a Carmen  Tórtola en la  producción     del  Instituto Valenciano de Cultura «Tórtola». Pero como mujer de  escena       también es  emprendedora. Hace diez fundó la Compañía «Las Reinas Magas» con la que puso en marcha proyectos tan ambiciosos como «Concierto Sentido» o «Chao Chochín» (mirada retrospectiva a la Valencia rural, trabajadora y humilde, que viajaba a las grandes ciudades rompiendo así su rutina para disfrutar  de  los  cabarets  de  la  época  y  los espectáculos nocturnos).

He has worked in the best theaters in Spain and was part of the mythical Catalan company Dagoll Dagom. He has to his credit a wide repertoire of different roles in theater, musicals, film and TV. She played Mrs. Aurora in the successful Channel 9 series «L´Alqueria Blanca» and Carmen Tórtola in the production of the Valencian Institute of Culture «Tórtola». But as a woman on stage, she is also an entrepreneur. A lo largo de su prolífica carrera como actriz y cantante, que compagina con la docencia, muchos han sido los reconocimientos «pero este premio ha sido muy especial. Muy personal. Creo que mi cara de sorpresa en las fotos lo dice todo. Muchos de los que nos acompañaron me engañaron y pensé que no iban a acudir».

Throughout her prolific career as an actress and singer, which she combines with teaching, there have been many awards «but this award has been very special. Very personal. El acto, celebrado en el espectacular «Café de Las Horas» en el centro de la ciudad, contó con la presencia del gerente del local Marc Insanally como anfitrión y estuvo presidido por Esther Santillana y Mari Ángeles Fayos (miembro de la Academia de las Artes Escénicas y productora/gerente del teatro Olimpia). Junto a ellas la Dra. Ana Mafé experta en la protohistoria del Santo Grial y directora de la plataforma cultural ENCUVA quien además ejerció como maestra de ceremonias.

The event, held at the spectacular «Café de Las Horas» in the center of the city, was attended by local manager Marc Insanally as host and chaired by Esther Santillana and Mari Ángeles Fayos (member of the Academy of Arts Scenic and producer / manager of the Olimpia theater). Together with them, Dr. Ana Mafé, an expert in the protohistory of the Holy Grail and director of the ENCUVA cultural platform, who also served as master of ceremonies.

Previo a su entrada, recibida por quienes ya la esperaban en el interior del local con aplausos y en pie, se celebró una comida a la que asistieron un reducido grupo de mujeres seleccionadas por la organización -y a la que quien escribe tuvo el honor de asistir- que acompañó y entretuvo a la premiada durante los preparativos y que sirvió para calentar motores.

Junto al diploma honorífico que daba fé de la distinción, entre otras cosas, una réplica del Santo Grial en color blanco realizado en el taller de cerámica creativa » Per Amor a l´Art» y un ejemplar del l ibro » El Santo Grial». Pero sin duda, lo que más sorprendió por su originalidad, fueron unas prácticas y modernas gafas de buceo adaptadas a la graduación de la homenajeada.

The international Valencian singer Noelia Zanón Ambassador of Honor of the Camino del Santo Grail Cultural Association and corporate image of «Losán Optical Center» performed a cappella some songs from her repertoire.
