Delcy Rodríguez publicly confirmed that she spoke with Donald Trump to strengthen relations between the United States and Venezuela. This comes as no surprise to anyone.

El panorama apunta a avanzar en una agenda de cooperación en energía, minería y seguridad, además de otros asuntos de interés común.

The outlook points toward advancing a cooperation agenda covering energy, mining, and security, as well as other matters of mutual interest.

Lo hablado a puerta cerrada pertenece, precisamente, a una habitación cuyas puertas todavía no se han abierto completamente al público. Sabemos que petróleo, minería, inversiones y recursos estratégicos forman parte de esta nueva relación entre Washington y Caracas. Lo demás, mientras no aparezcan documentos o declaraciones que lo confirmen, pertenece al terreno de las interrogantes.

We know that oil, mining, investments, and strategic resources are part of this new relationship between Washington and Caracas. As for the rest—absent any confirming documents or statements—it remains a matter of speculation.

—Y dame todas aquellas llaves que puedan darte la libertad a ti, a Padrino López, a Diosdado Cabello, que lo tengo en la mira, y que puedan abrir alguna puerta hacia la riqueza venezolana.

No dijo exactamente esas palabras, pero, conociendo la bondad y los intereses de su negro corazón, esas palabras se acercan muchísimo a lo que pudo haber estado detrás de una reunión de esta magnitud.

He didn’t use those exact words, but knowing the nature and the dark motives of his heart, they come very close to what likely lay behind a meeting of this magnitude.

Esa es mi opinión y mi manera de representar, mediante la sátira, lo que considero que podría estar detrás de una negociación de esta naturaleza.
