Siguiendo con este tema en esta tercera parte (ver anterior)

EL TRATO PARA CON UN NIÑO SUPERDOTADO / DEALING WITH A GIFTED CHILD

Si nos encontramos con un niño o niña de estas características o que se acerque mucho a estas características, se recomienda una primera evaluación y que esta sea a los 2 años y medio de edad para poder identificar los rasgos y de ser así, hacer un plan integral que incluye al niño, padres y familiares, así como la institución donde le cuidan o estudian a este tipo de niños para proveerles de todas las herramientas necesarias para que pueda salir adelante y desarrollar todo su potencial positivamente. Siendo los padres los que pueden darse cuenta desde antes que sus niños tienen un «desarrollo acelerado» por lo que es importante comentarlo con su pediatra y cuando ya tengamos el diagnóstico del profesional especializado, se recomienda “Obtener toda la información que se pueda pero ADECUADA a través de las diferentes asociaciones existentes, ya que estas realizan una gran labor entre padres y profesionales de la educación».

En este sentido es fundamental que los padres reciban formación para comprender las peculiaridades del comportamiento del niño/a con estas características para poder responder a sus necesidades de aprendizaje, sean las que sean y se presenten a la edad que se presenten. Y es que no hay nada más «perjudicial» para un cerebro en pleno desarrollo que la falta del estímulo adecuado, además de mucha paciencia así como la de participar en algunas organizaciones en donde los padres y sus hijos compartan las mismas experiencias porque de ellas se aprende muchísimo. Otra idea, es la de participar en talleres para padres e hijos que se organizan en diferentes entidades tanto privadas como públicas al respecto.

Así mismo debo aclarar que hoy por hoy se sabe que por los motivos que sean es decir por los obstáculos sociales, sólo un 4 o como mucho un 5% de esto niños superdotados no pierden sus capacidades extraordinarias al llegar a la adultez debido a que siguieron interesados en el aprendizaje por lo que la gran mayoría se pierde en el camino debido a que el contexto no les ayuda.

Su pensamiento lateral y divergente les permite a estos niños conjugar conocimientos y disciplinas, además de poseer una memoria extraordinaria o gran capacidad para hilvanar datos e ideas en contextos flexibles y dinámicos. por lo que estimularlos es vital brindándoles sugerencias atractivas en su dia a dia ya que ellos viven el conocimiento como una gran aventura personal.

SUGERENCIAS QUE LOS PADRES DEBEN TENER EN CUENTA PARA ESTIMULAR O AL ESTIMULAR A LOS NIÑOS SUPERDOTADOS o CON ALTAS CAPACIDADES

Fomenta sus pasiones, respetando sus intereses y pasiones porque si como padres no se les respeta esto podria provocar la perdida de su pasión e interés en lugar de motivarlo. Ellos necesitan tener voz en lo que están aprendiendo por lo que es muy positivo que cuando aprendan algo que les apasiona luego os lo puedan compartir. Esto apelará a su lado creativo y reafirmará la comprensión.

Se recomienda compartir al niño/a algunas experiencias propias en las que cometimos algún error y que a la larga se convirtió en aprendizaje.

Realizar actividades culturales, visitar museos, acuarios, obras de teatro, conciertos ya que esto ayuda a los niños superdotados a ampliar sus conocimientos sobre algunas áreas de interés así como para despertar su curiosidad y emociones por lo que tendrán un espectro más amplio de posibilidades adonde mirar.
