BOLIVIA: MILITARY HISTORY IN VERSE AND SCIENCE: Innovation in literature

Jackeline Barriga Nava, psicóloga, escritora, poeta gestora cultural, investigadora educativa de nacionalidad boliviana, realizó un proyecto mundial, pionero e innovador basado en «La HISTORIA MILITAR EN VERSO Y CIENCIA”, la misma que menciona de manera apasionada y que a su vez, le colaboraron 54 poetas y escritores de distintas nacionalidades que dejaron huellas para su país Bolivia en dicho evento.
Jackeline Barriga Nava, psychologist writer and poet carried out a worldwide project, pioneer and innovative based on «MILITARY HISTORY IN VERSE AND SCIENCE», the same one that he passionately mentions and that in turn, 54 poets and writers of different nationalities collaborated with him, who left traces for their country Bolivia in said event.
Como bien sabemos, durante este tiempo «pandémico» el mundo cambió. Las personas, la sociedad, los países de los distintos continentes se adaptaron a un nuevo orden de vida hasta el punto de seguir reglas y ordenanzas para un bien común, sin embargo, la pandemia no fue impedimento para realizar tan importante evento el cual se llevo a cabo siguiendo todos los protocolos.
As we well know, during this «pandemic» time the world changed. People, society, the countries of the different continents adapted to a new order of life to the point of following rules and ordinances for a common good, however, the pandemic was not an impediment to carry out such an important event, which was carried out following all the protocols.
Por otra parte, sumándose a este mundo de oportunidades que encontramos en la lectura, surge un gran detalle, que según la encuesta Ipsos (2019) efectuada en cuatro ciudades del eje central del hermano país de Bolivia: Cochabamba, El Alto, La Paz y Santa Cruz, el 48 % de los bolivianos no leen, ni un solo libro en un año y ni hablar de la comprensión lectora.

Visto lo visto, Barriga Nava menciona que se debe llegar de alguna manera a las personas, pero con acciones dinámicas y multidisciplinarias como señala Forminaya (2018): el cerebro de las personas ha cambiado, ha evolucionado a través del tiempo por el uso de las tecnologías, especialmente de las personas más jóvenes, la acción de la lectura debe cambiar.

Por otro lado, gracias a la formación en psicología de Barriga Nava, nos ha confirmado que en Bolivia y Latinoamérica las personas carecen de identidad. Esta identidad en la formación cívica entre los habitantes de un país es fundamental, porque crea autoestima y prácticamente es la base del éxito personal, de la relaciones social e incluso hasta laboral como señala la Organización Mundial de la Salud (2018), las personas con alto nivel de autoestima aumentan su eficiencia en cuanto a la productividad. Esto quiere decir, que eleva la producción de un país, la responsabilidad y el compromiso con la comunidad, siendo parte esencial de la salud mental, indicó Barriga Nava en su discurso.

Secondly, thanks to Barriga Nava’s training in psychology, it has confirmed to us that in Bolivia and Latin America people lack identity. This identity in civic formation among the inhabitants of a country is fundamental, because it creates self-esteem and is practically the basis of personal success, of social and even labor relations as indicated by the World Health Organization (2018), people with high levels of self-esteem increase their efficiency in terms of productivity. This means that it increases the production of a country, responsibility and commitment to the community, being an essential part of mental health, Barriga Nava indicated in his speech.
De esta manera, surgió el proyecto “Historia Militar en Verso y Ciencia”, con una firma de convenio con la Academia Boliviana de la Historia Militar (ABHM) y el Centro de Conocimiento Integral y de Innovación (Cii), a través de sus representantes Msc. Lic. Jackeline Barriga Nava D.H.C y C., Almte. Miguel Armando Álvarez Monasterios, para realizar un proyecto mundial e innovador en el área cultural educativa con la característica central de ser un proyecto sostenible en el tiempo y con impacto social, como debe ser todo proyecto serio.
In this way, the project came up «Military History in Verse and Science», with a signing of an agreement with the Bolivian Academy of Military History (ABHM) and the Center for Integral Knowledge and Innovation (Cii), through their representatives Msc. Lic. Jackeline Barriga Nava D.H.C y C., Adm. Miguel Armando Álvarez Monasterios, to carry out a global and innovative project in the educational cultural area with the central characteristic of being a sustainable project over time and with social impact, as every serious project should be.
El proyecto tiene la finalidad de conocer la Historia Militar de Bolivia, uniendo tres ejes académicos:
The project has the purpose of knowing the Military History of Bolivia, uniting three academic axes:
- Literatura a través de la poesía militar / Literature through military poetry
- Historia militar / Military history
- Investigación a través de estudios realizados por académicos de la ABHM e investigador educativo para fortalecer la importancia del militar, la libertad y la paz en la construcción histórica de las naciones. / Research through studies carried out by ABHM academics and educational researcher to strengthen the importance of the military, freedom and peace in the historical construction of nations.
Asimismo, otra finalidad del proyecto es brindar información y emociones para construir identidad y patriotismo en los bolivianos, porque la historia militar se encuentra inmersa en la historia boliviana a través de sus batallas, guerras y combates que enfrentó Bolivia y sus militares; las herramientas para lograr este objetivo son la poesía y la investigación, ambas se interrelacionan como elementos de sensibilización, educativos y didácticos. Estas características convierten al proyecto como pionero en el mundo, por primera vez se proyecta la historia militar boliviana uniendo la historia del mundo, reuniendo a sus intelectuales, a sus investigadores y seleccionando a sus mejores poetas.
In addition, another purpose of the project is to provide information and emotions to build identity and patriotism in bolivians, because military history is immersed in Bolivian history through its battles, wars and combats that Bolivia and its military faced; the tools to achieve this goal are poetry and research, both are interrelated as awareness, educational and didactic elements. These characteristics make the project a pioneer in the world, Bolivian military history is projected for the first time, uniting the history of the world, gathering its intellectuals, its researchers and selecting its best poets.
La historia militar boliviana tiene relación con la historia de los pueblos del mundo, de alguna manera se interrelacionan; porque la historia es una sola y es esencial conocerla para entender el presente y proyectarnos al futuro, tomando en cuenta el pasado donde se involucraron países, personajes, circunstancias, la libertad y la paz.
Bolivian military history is related to the history of the peoples of the world, somehow they interrelate; because history is only one and it is essential to know it to understand the present and project ourselves into the future, taking into account the past where countries, characters, circumstances, freedom and peace were involved.
Hablar de aspectos militares no es sinónimo de muerte, debemos considerar que, gracias a la milicia, Bolivia es un país independiente. La UNESCO resalta la paz negativa y la paz positiva, la primera referida a las guerras, parece contradictorio hacer guerra para que exista paz; pero de alguna manera es una forma de llegar a la paz, finalmente esa es la naturaleza de la historia de los pueblos del mundo y de la humanidad. La segunda se refiere a la cultura de paz, son aquellas acciones que propicien el buen entendimiento del entorno y evita cualquier conflicto, incluso de las relaciones interpersonales. Ambas son una forma de Paz.
Talking about military aspects is not synonymous with death, we must consider that, thanks to the military, Bolivia is an independent country. UNESCO highlights negative peace and positive peace,
the first referring to wars, it seems contradictory to wage war for peace to exist; But in some way it is a way to reach peace, finally that is the nature of the history of the peoples of the world and of humanity. The second refers to the culture of peace, are those actions that promote a good understanding of the environment and avoid any conflict, including interpersonal relationships. Both are a form of Peace.

Se seleccionaron 54 poemas de 32 nacionalidades: Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Cabo Verde, Camerún, Canadá, Colombia, Cuba, Dinamarca, Ecuador, El Salvador, España, Estados Unidos, Francia, Grecia, India, Indonesia, Israel, Marruecos, México, Nicaragua, Pakistán, Panamá, Perú, Polonia, Puerto Rico, República Dominicana, Rumania, Serbia, Turquía, Uruguay, Venezuela. Un punto para resaltar del proyecto es la edad de los declamadores y poetas que comprenden desde los 13 años para adelante.
54 poems of 32 nationalities were selected: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, United States, France, Greece, India, Indonesia, Israel, Morocco, Mexico, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Peru , Poland, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Uruguay, Venezuela. A point to highlight of the project is the age of the declaimers and poets who range from 13 years upwards.
Todos los poemas tienen temáticas sobre guerras, batallas, combates y de personajes militares que tuvo Bolivia, si bien se otorgaron a los poetas las temáticas y links para recabar información, muchos de los poetas solicitaban información en distintos idiomas, se tradujo la información, para que los poetas sobre la base de ese conocimiento construyan un poema. Realmente fue un RETO que poetas de distintas nacionalidades del mundo lean parte de nuestra historia boliviana, por lo cual considero que cumplimos con los objetivos del proyecto.
All the poems have themes about wars, battles, combats and military characters that Bolivia had, Although the themes and links were given to the poets to gather information, many of the poets requested information in different languages, the information was translated, so that the poets on the basis of that knowledge build a poem. It was really a CHALLENGE that poets of different nationalities of the world read part of our Bolivian history, for which I consider that we fulfill the objectives of the project.
Se efectuó un libro virtual incluyendo todos los poemas e investigaciones como herramienta didáctica, el cual será distribuido a Embajadas, Ministerios y otras instituciones.
A virtual book was made including all the poems and research as a teaching tool, which will be distributed to Embassies, Ministries and other institutions.
La presentación del proyecto se realizó de manera virtual y bilingüe (español-inglés) desde el 24 al 27 de agosto de 2021, donde participaron poetas, investigadores, autoridades militares, músicos, declamadores, auspiciadores e invitados especiales. Se encuentran programados desde el mes de septiembre de 2021 cursos, talleres, conferencias en temáticas de historia militar, poesía militar, escritura creativa, entre otros temas, a nivel nacional e internacional, realizada por los poetas participantes y académicos de la ABHM hasta que finalice el proyecto 2023.
The presentation of the project was carried out in a virtual and bilingual (Spanish-English) way from August 24 to 27, 2021, where poets, researchers, military authorities, musicians, speakers, sponsors and special guests participated. Courses, workshops, conferences on topics of military history, military poetry, creative writing, among other topics, are scheduled from September 2021, nationally and internationally, carried out by the participating poets and academics of the ABHM until the end the 2023 project.
Se continuarán los escritos de poesía militar e investigación de historia militar boliviana en la revista de la ABHM titulada: Fascículos Militar Cultural hasta la finalización del proyecto.
Se consiguió auspicio institucional de instancias que de alguna manera apoyan con la divulgación del proyecto, organización de eventos especiales fuera de los programados que tendremos a futuro; asimismo tenemos colaboración de distintas personalidades del mundo los cuales se nombra a continuación:
Military poetry and research on Bolivian military history will continue to be written in the ABHM magazine titled: Military Cultural Fascicles until the end of the project. Como enfoque final, la literatura debe ser dinámico e integral para llegar a la sociedad, sumamente importante, porque “llevar la palabra a la acción con impacto social es la única manera de cambiar el mundo”, de esta manera.
