EDITORIAL: ITALY, A NEW «GRINCH» OF CHRISTMAS IN THE VATICAN

La cadena de noticias CNN, una de las más importante de Estados Unidos de América,  informó que el obispo de Noto en Sicilia Antonio Staglianò le dijo a los niños a manera de reflexionar sobre el significado de la verdadera Navidad: «No, Santa Claus no existe, de hecho, agregaría que el rojo del traje que lleva fue elegido por Coca Cola exclusivamente con fines publicitarios»,

Entonces poniéndome en  los zapatos de los niños sicilianos e imaginándome que lo miraron fijamente al obispo de manera atónita y de incredibilidad, este señor arruinó la Navidad o es el ,»GRINCH» mandado por el Vaticano.

Entonces me pregunto: ¿Hasta qué punto se perdió la sensibilidad humana para con los niños? La Navidad es momento para reflexionar, estar en paz, unión familiar, pero no se puede negar que a las personas les encanta ir de compras y para comprar los juguetes y la cena de navidad para esperar a Papá Noel, aunque el verdadero sentir sería recibir al nacimiento del niño Jesús, según los cristianos.

So I wonder: To what extent was human sensitivity to children lost? Christmas is a time to reflect, be in peace, family togetherness, but it cannot be denied that people love to go shopping and to buy toys and Christmas dinner to wait for Santa Claus, although the real feeling would be to receive at the birth of the baby Jesus, according to Christians.

Ahora comprendiendo la situación de esos niños italianos, contaré una anécdota personal: «Recuerdo una vez, me vestí de Rey Mago, junto al abuelo y un cuñado para entregar regalos junto a los de mi hijo, entonces me descubrió y dijo: -¡Papi me  arruinaste la Navidad!- y fue la última vez que me puse el atuendo por entender que en vez de beneficiarlo, le había quitado su ilusión y para mí no fue un momento agradable ni para mi hijo tampoco».

Entonces comprendí que La Navidad debe ser mágica llena de ilusión y optimismo.

Pero.. en cierto punto el obispo tiene razón, que el consumismo nos está tragando en especial con los objetos que compramos y no utilizamos. Lo único es que… se equivoco de foro y con la población más vulnerable.

Esperamos que este obispo pueda poner en función su cerebro para su próxima navidad y no se deje llevar por la pasión y su misión sea llevar un mensaje más reconciliador a las familias y ponerse a la capacidad de los niños para que no vuelva a cometer otra: «burrada grinchesca» con los niños.

Sin embargo, considero  que a pesar de las disculpas del obispo, ya el daño está hecho en esos niños y solo debió explicar el verdadero significado de la Navidad es… la celebración del nacimiento del niño Jesús y compartir en paz junto a  familiares y amigos en sana armonía y dejar que los niños sigan con la ilusión, de creer en Papá Noel y Los Reyes Magos. En sencillas palabras porque él nunca cambiará el mercado y sus negocios porque de una forma u otra las personas deben llevar el sustento a sus hogares, de forma honesta.
