Un aire de nostalgia embarga a los habitantes del barrio Ondas del Caribe, porque ya en sus diales no se encuentra las transmisión de la emisora que le dio su nombre, un arraigo ancestral con el que crecieron generaciones que hoy hablan de su historia, del viejo Teatro Santa Marta, donde muchos se acuerdan de sus primeras escapadas a ver teatro y otros a oír las obras que eran transmitidas por la emisora de los samarios, una de las pioneras en radio teatro del país.

Ella quien fue una de las que se acento en los predios de Ondas del Caribe, recuerda que muchas veces pasaba su soledad de los largos jornales de su esposo en compañía de las voces melódicas de los locutores de la emisora, asegura Mendoza que esa época era de las buenas, donde no había tanta maldad y la palabra valía más que un papel.

Así con esas voces de nostalgia es la que también extrañan sus habitantes la ondas sonoras de la emisora que los acompañó, informó y muchas veces sirvió de servicios sociales, para llevar los recados de la comunidad a sus seres queridos en diferentes municipios del departamento del Magdalena.

No puede ser, que por falta de amor a la historia y a los patrimonios intangibles de Santa Marta se deje perder una parte de la historia de la radiodifusión en Colombia, parece que los gobernantes de hoy en día no respetan ni guardan los legados de nuestros antepasados y el hecho fuera olvidar la historia, el camino labrado con sudor y trabajo de esos pioneros de la radio, que se entraban en los bosques para montar las antenas a lomo de mula, porque borrar la historia y no edificarla y hacerla más grande reconociendo el patrimonio cultural del departamento y del Distrito de Santa Marta.
