Let me tell you a story: Owen the cross-eyed bug and the weasel

Una tarde de verano donde el astro sol hacía de las suyas, se veía pasear a una bella familia de iguanas: mamá, papá y el pequeño garrapo, hijo de ellos (así son llamados los machos en la familia de las iguanas), de nombre Owen, siempre se le veía feliz, muy educadito y gentil.

One summer afternoon where the sun was doing its thing, you could see a beautiful family of iguanas walking: mom, dad and their little iguana, their son (that’s what the males are called in the iguana family), named Owen always seemed happy, very polite and gentle.

Cante y cante así, “Soy un garrapo sin igual, a todo mundo quiero ayudar, gentil al saludar y muy amable para tratar”.

Comentaba al pasar con una gran sonrisa y cordialidad, – buenos días señora ardilla, que tal ¿cómo le va? hoy su pelaje luce sin igual, muy lindo- aquella ardilla agradecía aquel bello gesto.

Buenos días hormiguitas ¡Que rojas amanecieron hoy! Y las hormigas felices con su cabeza en movimiento como modo de afirmación y una sonrisa leve era motivo de aprobación.

Así que, es de imaginar que todo mundo apreciaba a Owen, era tan amiguero que a todo mundo caía bien. Owen solo tenia un pequeño detalle que a nadie le mencionaría. Había nacido bizco. Y a todo mundo lo veía doble – je, je, je – pero como siempre en el abrigo de su hogar a Owen siempre le dieron mucha seguridad.

So, you can imagine that everyone liked Owen, he was such a friend that everyone liked him. Owen only had one small detail that he would not mention to anyone. He was born cross-eyed. And he saw everyone twice – heh, heh, heh – but as always in the shelter of his home, Owen was always given a lot of security.

Pero a él no le importaba, él se sentía dichoso – je, je, je – pero, aunque todo veía doble eso sí. Un día que paso abajo de un árbol como siempre feliz, vio a una comadreja jugando por allí, al mover fuertemente unas ramas de aquel árbol un gran nido de pajarillos se cayó ¡-Chin-! pronto casi hasta el suelo llegaron ¡Que fatalidad! La comadreja se puso a llorar. Mientras que Owen rápidamente corrió, con tal agilidad que alcanzo a tomar aquel nido de pajarillos, al escuchar su fiu, fiu, fiu, de aquellos pequeños polluelos, supo que los pudo rescatar -ufff- ¡Que gran alegría! la comadreja le comento ¡gracias amigo! ¡qué gran felicidad! Los dos con mucho cuidado aquel nido lo pusieron en su lugar – fiu, fiu, fiu, – ¡Que lindo trinar! El de los pequeños polluelos.

But he didn’t care, he felt happy – heh, heh, heh – but, although he saw double everything, he did. One day when he passed under a tree as always happy, he saw a weasel playing there, when he strongly moved some branches of that tree a large nest of birds fell down -Chin-! Soon they reached almost to the ground. What a fatality! The weasel started crying. While Owen quickly ran, with such agility that he managed to take that nest of birds, upon hearing those little chicks’ fiu, fiu, fiu, he knew that he was able to rescue them -ufff- What a great joy! the weasel commented, thank you friend! what great happiness! The two of them very carefully put that nest in its place – fiu, fiu, fiu, – How nice to chirp! The one with the little chicks.

La comadreja le dijo a Owen, sin dejar de girar en aquella rama con gran felicidad, te voy a dar unos lentes para que veas mejor y una linda cachucha que tengo para que te protejas del sol – je, je, je – y en una de esas mejoraras tu vista. Y mucho su ayuda le agradeció de aquel bello gesto del nido y los polluelos.

The weasel said to Owen, without stopping turning on that branch with great happiness, I’m going to give you some glasses so you can see better and a nice hat that I have to protect you from the sun – heh, heh, heh – and in one of those you will improve your eyesight. And he was very grateful for his help for that beautiful gesture of the nest and the chicks.

A ¡Que guapo! lucia todo un galán, gracias linda comadreja ya me tengo que retirar. Al llegar a casa, su linda mama le pregunto, Owen con esos lentes ¿vez bien? Y él contestó, ¡SI! Mi amiga la comadreja me los dio con amor – je, je, je – su linda madrecita solo sonrió, había comprendido con dulzura que su vista jamás cambiaria y lo que más le gustaba era como su hijo valoraba su vida.

How handsome! He looked like a real gallant, thank you, pretty weasel, I have to leave now. When he got home, his pretty mom asked him, Owen with those glasses, do you see well? And he answered, YES! My friend the weasel gave them to me with love – heh, heh, heh – his pretty little mother just smiled, she had sweetly understood that her eyesight would never change and what she liked most was how her son valued his life.

A que mi hijo eres todo corazón y con esos lentes te vez como un ¡Gran campeón! Nunca cambies corazón.
