Jamás como en estos tiempos –y amenazante de aumentarla- la tecnología vinculada a la comunicación ha adquirido una velocidad tan impresionante. Deja la impresión de que, cada día, uno se despierta y se encuentra con un arrollador entusiasmo, que inquieta sobre todo porque involucra a niños y adolescentes en efervescencia sin control por las nuevas aplicaciones de la informática.

Never before – and threatening to increase it – has technology linked to communication acquired such impressive speed as in these times. It leaves the impression that, every day, one wakes up and finds an overwhelming enthusiasm, which is disturbing above all because it involves children and adolescents in uncontrolled effervescence for new computer applications.

Es que de toda nueva aplicación, en esas mentes aún sin haber adquirido una moral sólida ni tener madurez para entender las consecuencias de sus actos, se despierta una imaginación que conduce, casi siempre, a resultados decadentes. Este escenario puede advertirlo cualquiera con solidez mental y una ética de vida recta observando, día tras día, los desaguisados que se perpetran a través de las llamadas “redes sociales”.

This scenario can be seen by anyone with mental solidity and an upright life ethic, observing, day after day, the misdeeds that are perpetrated through the so-called “social networks.”

La tecnología no tiene la culpa; sus avances parten, en general, de la intención de hacer avanzar a la sociedad hacia conocimientos de los que carece, con sofisticados y veloces elementos que tienen muchas aplicaciones beneficiosas, incluso para la ciencia. Si hay mayores que operan como tales pero con un sentido perverso, yendo a la búsqueda de público “fácil”, creo que son una minoría. Es también un verdadero problema que sean, precisamente, las mentes aún en formación –por alguna razón biológica que desconozco- las que primero “descifran” utilizaciones “divertidas”, cruzan datos y experiencias y crean fenómenos, algunos organizados en “tribus” que no reconocen fronteras, como el que nos ocupa hoy. Siendo así, los mayores, padres, madres, maestros y hasta políticos con responsabilidad en la formación de la próxima generación de jóvenes, deberían crear mecanismos que permitan una vigilancia, una disuasión, una reorientación y, si no hay más remedio, un castigo a tono, rehabilitador, para que la bola de nieve de la decadencia se detenga o, cuanto menos, se enlentezca.
