LA SEMANA SANTA es un Período de 7 días que, según el calendario litúrgico, empieza un domingo (como hoy) y termina el próximo domingo.

HOLY WEEK is a 7-day Period that, according to the liturgical calendar, begins on Sunday (like today) and ends the following Sunday.

Se trata de la conmemoración cristiana que celebra cada año la Pasión de Cristo, es decir de su entrada a Jerusalén, la última cena, el viacrucis, la muerte y resurrección de Jesús. Esta misma empieza con el Domingo de Ramos (hoy) y finaliza con el Domingo de Resurrección. Esta celebración suele iniciarse en varios lugares el dia viernes anterior, es decir el Viernes de Dolores. En cuanto a la semana santa esta celebración es variable en cuanto a fechas generalmente es entre marzo y abril.

1.- Iztapalapa – México

La mas importante es la procesión del Viacrucis del día Viernes Santo. Esta procesión dura todo el día y con cuadros en vivo reviven la pasión de Cristo. El Viacrucis, también conocido como la Pasión de Iztapalapa, convoca millones de personas que literalmente invaden las callejuelas de los barrios del pueblo desde 1843.

La procesión del Jueves Santo es la mas especial. Esta procesión es teatral, musical, y luminosa, sale al anochecer con carrozas decoradas y personas en vivo, y los fieles encienden velas al anochecer. En Filipinas el fervor religioso cristiano es tal que lo diferencia de otros países haciendo la experiencia muy interesante.

The procession on Holy Thursday is the most special. This procession is theatrical, musical, and luminous, it leaves at dusk with decorated floats and live people, and the faithful light candles at dusk. 4.- Palermo-Sicilia Italia

Se celebran durante la Semana Santa unas 20 procesiones en esta linda ciudad de Palermo, patrimonio arquitectónico, una de las mas asistida es la de San Nicolo de Tolentino en el corazón de Ballaro barrio histórico de la capital siciliana, la del cristo reclinado en un ataud de cristal.

5.- Sevilla España

Andalucía, es la región excepcional para admirar estas procesiones mas festivas del mundo. En Sevilla más de 60 hermandades se visten con sus trajes tradicionales, los días Jueves y Viernes desfilan desde la anoche hasta el amanecer, los visitantes cantan y bailan y desde sus famosos balcones acompañan con Saetas el lento paso de estas procesiones. Las cofradías lucen su mas bellos y vistosos atuendos.

Andalusia is the exceptional region to admire these most festive processions in the world. In Seville, more than 60 brotherhoods dress in their traditional costumes, on Thursday and Friday they parade from night until dawn, visitors sing and dance and from their famous balconies they accompany the slow passage of these processions with Saetas. The brotherhoods wear their most beautiful and colorful attire.

COLOMBIA

Quiero resalta la Semana Santa en Colombia, país de mayoría católica, donde se guardan las tradiciones y cultos para festejar a su manera cada uno de los pasos de Jesucristo con procesiones muy vistosas y hermosas.

I want to highlight Holy Week in Colombia, a country with a Catholic majority, where traditions and cults are kept to celebrate each of the steps of Jesus Christ in their own way with very colorful and beautiful processions.
