EDITORIAL: OPEN LETTER TO Mr. ALVARO URIBE VELEZ, CESAR GAVIRIA TRUJILLO, GERMAN VARGAS LLERAS, Mr. General EDUARDO ZAPATEIRO, EFRAIN CEPEDA, HENRIQUE GOMEZ, MARTIN ALONSO PINZON, Cnel. LUIS VILLAMARIN.

Apreciados amigos, y muy distinguidos colombianos, compatriotas: Colombia atraviesa uno de sus más peligrosos momentos, afirmación que nos avizora un acelerado e irresponsable proceder del gobierno de Gustavo Petro, y su grupo de asesores ministeriales, para darle curso a una serie de proyectos de leyes, que llevan el afán y la velocidad de un fin protervo.

Dear friends, and very distinguished Colombians, compatriots: Colombia is going through one of its most dangerous moments, a statement that warns us of an accelerated and irresponsible action by the government of Gustavo Petro, and his group of ministerial advisers, to give way to a series of projects of laws, which carry the eagerness and speed of a leering end.

En lo que va de corrido su reciente mandato, se vislumbra el descuadernamiento de la imagen nacional en todos los órdenes, que si prospera, sería el más desastroso de sus episodios históricos, después de los que atravesamos y superamos, para logar nuestra independencia a un costo sangriento, espantoso, todo, para constituir una República independiente de leyes, de estado de derecho, de justicia y orden.

So far in his recent term, there is a glimpse of the dislocation of the national image in all orders, which if it prospers, would be the most disastrous of its historical episodes, after the ones we have gone through and overcome, to achieve our independence at a bloody, frightful cost, everything, to constitute an independent Republic of laws, rule of law, justice and order.

Tal peligro y malestar, no me cabe duda, se debe al despecho popular ante la negligencia de algunos de sus gobernantes que han sido indiferentes a los temas relacionados con la situación social de las clases pobres del país, las que han sido relegadas a un segundo plano en todo sentido, lo que sirvió de caldo de cultivo para que los enemigos de la democracia hayan logrado un notable avance para imponer sistemas, que históricamente han demostrado que son un perfecto fracaso.

Such danger and discomfort, I have no doubt, is due to popular spite at the negligence of some of its rulers who have been indifferent to issues related to the social situation of the country’s poor classes, who have been relegated to second place. flat in every sense, which served as a breeding ground for the enemies of democracy to have made notable progress in imposing systems that have historically shown to be a complete failure.

No obstante, el ejemplo más latente, y actual, es la de nuestra vecindad venezolana, para no irnos tan lejos. La ceguera popular es tal, que se beben el veneno, a sabiendas del resultado. Y… tambien se suma al calculado despropósito anti democracia, el poder de algunas organizaciones internacionales, que se han encargado de financiar y corromper, el sistema democrático, para lograr sus objetivos, cosa, que desgraciadamente han conseguido, porque ha imperado más el interés mercantilista de la política, que el idealista consagrado en sus doctrinas políticas de partido. Las clases dirigentes, con raras excepciones, se acomodaron al facilismo y a la conquista de los mayores puestos de la burocracia y por ende, se busca el camino que los haga más poderosos y ricos en el menor tiempo posible.

Lo que está ocurriendo en estos momentos en Colombia, no es otra cosa, que la falta de liderazgos de una parte, y de otra, la defensa de los intereses nacionales, que los han echado a un lado, para darle prioridad a los deseos particulares. Eso ha polarizado la defensa nacional que debe ser única, para convertirla en una competencia de fuerzas de partido, lo que le dejó el campo libre a los enemigos del sistema capitalista, demócrata, para que ganaran el espacio que hoy mal habido tienen.

What is happening right now in Colombia is nothing other than the lack of leadership on the one hand, and on the other, the defense of national interests, which have been pushed aside, to give priority to particular desires. . This has polarized the national defense, which should be the only one, to turn it into a competition of party forces, which left the field free for the enemies of the capitalist, democratic system, so that they could gain the space that they have today ill-gotten.

Fue increíble ver correr hacia el refugio de Petro, a empresarios, y a las bancadas de los dos partidos políticos tradicionales, cuando veían muy cerca la derrota del sistema de libertad, y orden, todo, para acomodarse con el gobierno comunista, y sacarles el mejor provecho a las ofertas por concepto de compra de conciencias, para sumar apoyos.

It was incredible to see businessmen and the benches of the two traditional political parties run towards Petro’s refuge, when they saw the defeat of the system of freedom and order very close, everything, to accommodate themselves with the communist government, and get the best out of them. Take advantage of the offers for the purchase of consciences, to add support.

Creo que ha llegado la hora, de la rectificación, porque aun estamos a tiempo de hacerlo y la mejor manera es entrando en un dialogo constructivo, no para conciliar con lo absurdo, sino con la lógica que obliga a quienes nacimos y contribuimos a edificar una nación soberana, independiente, respetable, de buen uso de la razón, y admirados en el concierto de las naciones del universo como PAIS legalista y digno de fiar.

I think the time has come for rectification, because we still have time to do it and the best way is to enter into a constructive dialogue, not to reconcile with the absurd, but with the logic that forces those of us who were born and contribute to building a sovereign, independent, respectable nation, of good use of reason, and admired in the concert of the nations of the universe as a legalistic and trustworthy COUNTRY.

Termino mi invitación al dialogo invocando un fragmento de aquel discurso del Dr. Alberto Lleras Camargo pronunciado en el año de 1960- Deseo recordarles, que ante el momento trágico en el que vive la nación, todos debemos unirnos y convertirnos en lideres, en sujetos activos de la acción, por lo que para lograrlo estamos obligados a superar la miseria de las vanidades y de las rencillas entre los diferentes partidos. Dice asi: “No son los varones que hoy veneramos, meras estantiguas. Quienes han seguido las huellas que dejaron en el fresco barro del ras nación recién nacida, suspicacias tremendas para descubrirles intenciones protervas o escandalosas mezquindades, no han hecho sino llegar a la antiquísima conclusión de que los héroes están hechos de la misma materia de los demás hombres. Y si asi consiguieron la república, si asi la sustentaron, y sobre todo si la vistieron de purpura con su sacrificio, no siendo otra cosa que hombres, sujetos a la ambición, a la codicia y al miedo, como no pasmarnos que hubieran superado esa envoltura de miseria?»

I end my invitation to the dialogue invoking a fragment of that speech by Dr. Alberto Lleras Camargo delivered in the year 1960- I want to remind you that in the face of the tragic moment in which the nation lives, we must all unite and become leaders, active subjects of action, so to achieve this we are obliged to overcome the misery of vanities and quarrels between the different parties. Despojemos pues de esos espíritus de competencia, que lo que está en juego, es la vida de la patria y el futuro de nuestros hijos y nietos.

Let’s get rid of those spirits of competition, because what is at stake is the life of the country and the future of our children and grandchildren.
