La tríada oscura de la personalidad… Es el perfil con el que se define una personalidad altamente tóxica, y surge de la combinación entre rasgos de narcisismo, maquiavelismo y psicopatía.

No está catalogado como un trastorno de personalidad como tal, sino mas bien es un conjunto de rasgos sub-clínicos presentes en el comportamiento disfuncional y errático de algunas personas, que causan daño, malestar y resultan ser un verdadero peligro para quienes lo rodean. La combinación de estos tres caracteres disfuncionales se convierten en el cóctel perfecto que define a una mala persona, a un ser perverso, sin escrúpulos ni sentimientos, un depredador intra especie.

Si bien el término de «triada oscura de la personalidad» surgió en la decada de los 90’s, no fue sino hasta el año 2002 que se acuñó el término, gracias a los estudios realizados por los psicologos Delroy L. Paulhus y K. Williams de la Universidad de la Columbia Británica.

Para hacer su adecuada evaluación y diagnóstico, los especialistas en salud mental, suelen utilizar la escala Jonason y Webster. La puntuación en ésta escala debe ser positiva en todas las tres áreas, sin embargo al aplicar ésta prueba psicométrica, siempre habrá una de las áreas con una puntuación más significativa que las otras dos.

-Maquiavelismo: El maquiavelismo a diferencia del narcisismo no hace uso de la amabilidad, ni la seducción ni ninguna otra apariencia. No se andan con rodeos, se caracterizan por su frialdad instrumental que aplican de forma certera, el cinismo y por su gran eficacia manipulativa. Es común en ellos la falta absoluta de empatía y la búsqueda insaciable por lograr aquello que se proponen, son grandes embaucadores, se aprovechan de los demás, estafan, mienten, sin remordimientos, con gran poder de convencimiento.

-Machiavellianism: Machiavellianism, unlike narcissism, does not use kindness, seduction or any other appearance. They don’t beat around the bush, they are characterized by their instrumental coldness that they apply accurately, their cynicism and their great manipulative efficiency. It is common in them the absolute lack of empathy and the insatiable search to achieve what they set out to do, they are great tricksters, they take advantage of others, they cheat, they lie, without remorse, with great power of persuasion.

-Psicopatía: La personalidad psicopática, vista no como el trastorno psicológico en sí mismo, sino como una personalidad con rasgos psicopáticos (es decir, con algunas características del trastorno, pero no todas) y se evidencia así:

Los individuos que evidencian la triada oscura generan un impacto psicosocial negativo en cualquier entorno donde se desenvuelvan, tanto en sus relaciones familiares, laborales, sociales y de pareja, todas éstas se verán afectadas por el despliegue de diversas tácticas antisociales y manipulaciones perversas de las que hacen uso éstos individuos. Aprender a identificar a tiempo estas personalidades nos ahorrará muchismo sufrimiento, y daños de toda índole en nuestra vida.

Individuals who show the dark triad generate a negative psychosocial impact in any environment where they operate, both in their family, work, social and couple relationships, all of these will be affected by the deployment of various antisocial tactics and perverse manipulations of which these guys use. Learning to identify these personalities in time will save us a lot of suffering and damage of all kinds in our lives.
