EDITORIAL: THE THINKER: AN UNWANTED DANCE

Dígase de una vez, claramente y sin horadar la honestidad intelectual: el  impulso dado a la obtención de firmas para un referéndum contra la Ley de Urgente Consideración ha colocado –a mi juicio como su consecuencia más resonante- a la oposición o, cuanto menos, a los legisladores y principales dirigentes del Frente Amplio, frente a una invitación a un baile no querido.

Es imposible ignorar que la mayoría de esos políticos, y piénsese sólo en aquellos que en el Parlamento votaron favorablemente unos cuantos de los artículos que ahora se pretende derogar, quedarán introducidos en un brete muy incómodo.

Tan incómodo y no querido que, aunque el voto es secreto y yo no podré probar jamás semejante teoría, estoy persuadido de que muchos votarán contra ese enunciado cuasi caricaturesco vociferado por la central obrera: “Borremos la LUC porque nos hunde en la pobreza, compromete nuestro futuro y concentra los peores intereses de la derecha conservadora”.

Estoy persuadido de que la enorme mayoría de las personas que han firmado a favor del referéndum, más de setecientas mil, han actuado siguiendo ciegamente un dogma, apelando al fanatismo y asestando un golpe mortal a su propia y vaya que importante curiosidad. O sea el interés por la búsqueda de los detalles para conocer de qué se trata realmente lo que hablamos y por qué cada quien toma la decisión que toma.
