Panchito es un pequeño niño que tiene un bellísimo gatito blanco. Panchito lo deja todo para después, ¡le gusta mucho divertirse! También en la escuela a la que asiste es muy popular por tres cosas que suele hacer mucho.

Panchito is a little boy who has a beautiful white kitten. Panchito leaves everything for later, he really likes to have fun! Also at the school he attends he is very popular for three things that he usually does a lot.

Siempre llega tarde. ¡Qué fatalidad! Panchito nunca es puntual. A la escuela siempre llega tarde, 5 minutos nada más. Je, je, je. Se pone coloradito y se pasa disimuladito, mientras que su maestra ya había empezado la lección. Y en coro todos sus compañeritos lo delataron. La maestra lo mira un poco incómoda, y le hace esperar unos minutos afuera del salón. Para que se ponga a pensar…

He’s always late. What a fatality! Panchito is never punctual. He is always late to school, just 5 minutes. Hahaha. He turns red and is sly, while his teacher has already started the lesson. And in chorus all his classmates betrayed him. The teacher looks at him a little uncomfortable, and makes him wait a few minutes outside the classroom. To get you thinking…

Pasa y entre risas disimuladas, Panchito se sienta, mientras que la maestra se pone seria y le dice: «Le faltas al respeto a los demás cada vez que llegas tarde, y eso está mal. Luego platicaremos con tus papás.» Panchito solo baja la cabeza tan solo unos instantes para en la clase continuar, y la maestra tiene que volver a empezar…

He passes by and between snickers, Panchito sits down, while the teacher gets serious and tells him: «You disrespect others every time you are late, and that is wrong. Then we will talk to your parents.» Panchito only lowers his head for a few moments so that the class can continue, and the teacher has to start again…

Otras veces, cuando hace sus labores de la casa, busca muchos pretextos. Siempre se la pasa diciendo: «¡ahorita!», «¡voy!», y tarda mucho tiempo para poner ¡Manos en acción! Siempre lo hace tarde y malhecho por no tomarle valor al tiempo.

Other times, when he does his housework, he looks for many excuses. He always keeps saying: «right now!», «I’m coming!», and it takes him a long time to put his hands on action! He always does it late and poorly because he doesn’t value time.

Después, sus amigos van por él y le gritan: «¡Panchito, vamos a jugar fútbol! A las 5 comenzará. ¡Tú eres muy bueno, nos harás ganar! Solo que si llegas tarde, nos sacarán.» Él se asomó y les dijo: «Ya, ya, ya, al ratón les caigo por allí.» Ellos se fueron felices a buen tiempo para jugar. Pero a Panchito le picó otra vez el mosquito de la flojera y la impuntualidad, y aunque sabía del compromiso con sus amigos, ¡el partido importante para ganar!, se tomó una siesta junto con su gatito, que acariciaba cada vez más, y se quedó dormitando. Un poco más tarde, su mamá le llamó y le llamó, pero Panchito muy dormido se quedó. Después de un tiempo prudente, Panchito se despertó junto a su gatito y exclamó: «¡Mamita chula! ¡Mamita chula!» Pero nadie le contestó. Volvió a ver a su gato hermosamente blanco y dijo: «¡Chin! ¿Qué horas son?» Miró el reloj que estaba en la cocina y pudo observar que ya era muy tarde para ir a jugar aquel partido tan importante con sus amigos.

Afterwards, his friends go after him and shout at him: «Panchito, let’s play soccer! It will start at 5. You’re very good, you’ll make us win! Only if you’re late, they’ll kick us out.» He looked out and told them: «Now, now, now, the mouse is coming over there.» They happily left at a good time to play. But Panchito was bitten again by the mosquito of laziness and unpunctuality, and although he knew about the commitment with his friends, the important game to win!, he took a nap with his kitten, which he caressed more and more, and he remained dozing. A little later, his mother called him and called him, but Panchito stayed very asleep. After a reasonable amount of time, Panchito woke up next to his kitten and exclaimed: «Mommy cool! Mommy cool!» But no one answered him. He looked back at his beautifully white cat and said, «Chin! What time is it?» He looked at the clock in the kitchen and could see that it was already too late to go play that important game with his friends.

Y salió como un rayo diciendo: «Si me apuro los alcanzaré. Llegaré un poquito tarde, pero todo estará bien. Je, je, je». Su gato lo miró y lo siguió a buen paso. Panchito, al no tener cuidado con las cintas de sus zapatos, tropezó – ¡Chin! – se cayó y el golpe fue tan fuerte que se desmayó.

And he went out like a flash saying: «If I hurry I’ll catch up with them. I’ll be a little late, but everything will be fine. Heh, heh, heh.» His cat looked at him and followed him at a good pace. Panchito, not being careful with the ribbons on his shoes, stumbled – Chin! – He fell and the blow was so strong that he fainted.

Mientras que sus amigos, como siempre, sabían que Panchito llegaría tarde, se consiguieron a un nuevo compañero que llegó a tiempo para practicar y, con tanta suerte, ganaron el campeonato. Por poco los descalificarían si hubieran llegado tarde y si se hubieran atenido a Panchito, ni su esfuerzo se hubiera notado, y Panchito aún seguía tirado teniendo pesadillas… Por no llegar a tiempo, como debe ser, su gatito que era blanco se tiñó de morado para recordar que es mejor ser puntual…

While his friends, as always, knew that Panchito would be late, they got a new partner who arrived on time to practice and, with so much luck, they won the championship. They would almost have been disqualified if they had arrived late and if they had stuck to Panchito, their effort would not have been noticed, and Panchito was still lying there having nightmares… Because he didn’t arrive on time, as he should, his kitten, which was white, turned purple to remember that it is better to be punctual…

A Panchito se le ve llorar, sus amigos fueron campeones y él no pudo jugar, todo por no tomarse su tiempo y ser impuntual, y en la escuela no tuvo una buena calificación, por no entender a tiempo la lección ¡Como sufrió! Pero se dio cuenta de que ser impuntual era un grave error, todo por no tomar sus tiempos y no respetar el tiempo de los demás.

Panchito can be seen crying, his friends were champions and he couldn’t play, all because he didn’t take his time and was unpunctual, and at school he didn’t get a good grade, because he didn’t understand the lesson in time. How he suffered! But he realized that being unpunctual was a serious mistake, all for not taking his time and not respecting the time of others.

Desde entonces, Panchito se volvió puntual y cumplido. No quiere volverse como su gatito y llegar de morado otra vez…

Since then, Panchito became punctual and compliant. He doesn’t want to become like his kitten and turn purple again…
