¡Albricias! Por fin, luego de meses de desinformación reapareció, a través de un comunicado oficial del sector responsable de la política de vacunaciones, el Ministerio de Salud Pública.

Si hubo daño por su prolongado silencio, pese a la existencia de una nueva mutación del Covid no sólo aquí sino también en la Argentina -cuya reacción se produjo antes y ha movilizado a su sociedad y ha explicado lo que ocurre- ya no hay remedio. La penúltima inquietud de nuestro Ministerio había sido eliminar la obligación de usar la mascarilla protectora en todas partes, incluso los establecimientos de atención de la salud y todo su personal.

La cuestión, recién ahora, viene en una dirección clara: quien llegó a la quinta dosis – que perdió más de un año porque parecía que acá todo iba color de rosas, salvo alguna gripecita- podrá recibir la sexta y prepararse para una decisión, muy acertada a mi juicio: habrá que vacunarse una vez al año, como hace tiempo se pensó. Nuestros vecinos con quienes más nos interrelacionamos, los argentinos, ya lo han resuelto.

Suena raro, después del elogiable enfrentamiento de la pandemia, que puso a Uruguay como ejemplo en el mundo, que ahora estemos todavía un poco mareados por el manejo de Salud Pública y el gobierno en circunstancias sobre las que advertí, durante el año pasado y varias veces, en estas reflexiones.

It sounds strange, after the praiseworthy confrontation of the pandemic, which set Uruguay as an example in the world, that now we are still a little dizzy by the management of Public Health and the government in circumstances that I warned about, during the last year and several times, in these reflections.

Nada me tranquilizaría más, supongo que como a muchos de mis conciudadanos, estar equivocado en las preocupaciones y temores que, aunque el paso fundamental finalmente ha sido dado, he seguido exponiendo porque forman parte de la realidad verificable.

Nothing would reassure me more, I suppose like many of my fellow citizens, to be wrong about the concerns and fears that, although the fundamental step has finally been taken, I have continued to expose because they are part of verifiable reality.
