El escultor casanareño, colombiano Diego García, quien durante la última semana permaneció en el Hospital Regional de la Orinoquia a consecuencia de un cáncer gástrico, lamentablemente falleció el pasado 21 de mayo, dejando un profundo vacío y que hoy le rendimos este humilde tributo con este presente artículo que nos acercará a quien era él, algo de su vida y obras.

The Colombian sculptor from Casanare, Diego García, who for the last week remained in the Orinoquia Regional Hospital as a result of gastric cancer, unfortunately passed away on May 21, leaving a deep void and that today we pay him this humble tribute with this present article that will bring us closer to who he was, something about his life and works.

Diego García, gran artista quien afirmaba ser un soñador de diferentes dimensiones, proyectos en el entorno llanero, en obras que hoy permanecen en varios parques de las poblaciones casanareñas.

Así mismo, el artista siempre hablaba de su hija como su mayor y perfecta escultura.

Diego García fue el artista escultor del arpa gigante de Aguazul, en mi humilde opinión creo que es la más grande del mundo, el monumento a dos caras en homenaje a los fundadores del municipio de San Luis de Palenque, un mural en homenaje a las víctimas del conflicto armado en el llano. Creador de las figuras gigantes del llano y los Lanceros para la celebración del Bicentenario de Colombia que fueron expuestas en el parque Santander y artífice de esculturas muy representativas del museo 8 de julio de Yopal.

Diego García was the sculptor artist of the Aguazul giant harp, in my humble opinion I think it is the largest in the world, the monument with two faces in homage to the founders of the municipality of San Luis de Palenque, a mural in homage to the victims of the armed conflict in the plain. Un soñador que proyectaba la inmensidad del llano en sus obras, él hablaba que en el Llano hay mucha inspiración para crear como la fauna, la flora, la tradición oral, por eso desarrolló su propio espacio para esculturas en gran formato.
