EDITORIAL: What is expected of Donald Trump as the leader of US imperialism

Bajo temperaturas gélidas en la capital de Estados Unidos y dentro del Capitolio de la capital estadounidense, este 20 de enero de 2025, Donald Trump asumió su segundo mandato como el presidente # 47 de los Estados Unidos, marcando un giro significativo hacia políticas nacionales populistas y una reactivación del imperialismo estadounidense como fue este país se le ha conocido desde el siglo XX y lo que ha demostrado en el primer cuarto del siglo actual.

Under freezing temperatures in the capital of the United States and inside the Capitol of the US capital, on January 20, 2025, Donald Trump assumed his second term as the #47th president of the United States, marking a significant turn towards populist national policies and a reactivation of American imperialism as this country has been known since the twentieth century and what it has demonstrated in the first quarter of the current century.

El presidente Trump sus primeras palabras como mandatario de este país fueron “La era dorada para el país ha comenzado.” Y repitió lo mismo que dijo durante su primer mandato. “Estados Unidos será nuevamente respetado en el mundo”.

Durante su primer discurso como presidente, Trump prometió una política dura contra la inmigración ilegal al país, al amenazar con cerrar la frontera sur, declarar a los carteles mexicanos como terroristas y su promesa electoral de iniciar deportaciones masivas de quienes se encuentran en el país de forma irregular, medida que en reportes noticiosos han informado que cuenta con el apoyo del 90% de electorado que votó a favor de Donald Trump. El plan de Trump redadas masivas y deportaciones de inmigrantes, principalmente latinoamericanos, han sido comparadas con prácticas fascistas del pasado.

Se espera que a esos países les imponga mano dura asfixiando las economías de Cuba, Nicaragua y Venezuela. También prometió que Estados Unidos retomará el control del Canal de Panamá.

He has proposed the annexation of Greenland, including considering the use of force, and the regaining of control of the Panama Canal. In addition, he has suggested the incorporation of Canada as another state of the Union.
