COLOMBIA: THE EDUCATIONAL RADIO A TOOL FOR LEARNING

En sus inicios, la radio fue utilizada como un método de comunicación a larga distancia, sin embargo, con el tiempo ha ido evolucionando y con ello la forma en la que fue utilizada. Uno de los más importantes fueron con fines educativos para compartirle conocimiento a aquellas poblaciones vulnerables.

In its beginnings, radio was used as a long-distance communication method, however, over time it has evolved and with it the way in which it was used. One of the most important was for educational purposes to share knowledge with vulnerable populations.

Hoy en día miles de personas pertenecientes a zonas rurales y urbanas han dado testimonio que han logrado aprender a escribir y leer a través de este medio de comunicación tradicional, es por ello que desde que la radio llegó a Colombia, empezó a considerarse un medio útil para cumplir propósitos educativos.

Today thousands of people belonging to rural and urban areas have given testimony that they have managed to learn to write and read through this traditional means of communication, that is why since radio arrived in Colombia, it began to be considered a useful medium for educational purposes.

Algunas experiencias de radio educativa tuvieron un largo aliento, como ocurrió con Radio Sutatenza y el ‘Bachillerato por Radio’. En los años 90, cuando iniciaron las radios alternativas y comunitarias, en ellas ocurrieron múltiples experiencias locales y regionales. Por lo que a través de los años lograron transmitir esa escénica y conocimientos en áreas puntuales.

Some educational radio experiences took a long time, as happened with Radio Sutatenza and the ‘Baccalaureate on Radio’. In the 90s, when alternative and community radio stations began, multiple local and regional experiences occurred in them. So through the years they managed to transmit that stage and knowledge in specific areas.

En aquellos tiempos, la estrategia educativa articulaba otros medios y recursos como: cartillas, periódicos y el acompañamiento de auxiliares radiofónicos. Radio Sutatenza por su parte, fue uno de esos pioneros en compartir esta técnica apoyada con el Ministerio de Educación Nacional, difundiendo estos programas para ampliar el sistema de educación a distancia y fortalecer los procesos de educación de adultos, en especial a campesinos.

In those times, the educational strategy articulated other means and resources such as: primers, newspapers and the accompaniment of radio assistants. Radio Sutatenza, for its part, was one of those pioneers in sharing this technique, supported by the Ministry of National Education, broadcasting these programs to expand the distance education system and strengthen adult education processes, especially for farmers.

Siendo un modelo a seguir para muchas más emisoras de América Latina, y a pesar de que el proyecto finalizó en 1994 cuando Radio Sutatenza fue clausurada, gran parte de la transformación educativa y cultural del campo se le debe a ella, por lo que actualmente continúa vigente este método educativo.

Pero no es de desconocer que poco a poco esta tradición se ha ido perdiendo con la llegada de las nuevas tecnologías. Sin embargo, sigue siendo valido el uso de este medio como método formativo, ya no solo para la educación formal sino para otros tipos como la social y la informal.

Actualmente por motivos de la pandemia por el Covid-19, existen muchos lugares alrededor del mundo donde el acceso a tecnologías de información e internet son muy nulos, es así como la radio vuelve a incursionar como medio de comunicación para aquellos estudiantes que no tienen las mismas oportunidades que otros y de esta forma puedan continuar su formación académica a través de ella.

Currently, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are many places around the world where access to information technologies and the internet are very nil, this is how radio is once again entering as a means of communication for those students who do not have the same opportunities as others and in this way they can continue their academic training through it.

El conglomerado de medios LA LIBERTAD se une con la Gobernación del Atlántico y reviven la educación radial entregando cartillas de Pruebas Saber 2021 para orientar la práctica de los jóvenes ‘Campeones del Saber’ del departamento.

Al mismo tiempo, resaltando la importancia de la radio con fines educativos, emitiendo un programa en el canal de oro de Colombia, Radio Libertad 600 AM para preparar a los estudiantes de los diferentes municipios en estas próximas pruebas todos los sábados de 3:00 p.m a 5:00 p.m y los domingo a partir de las 10:00 a.m. a 11 a.m. y de 3:30 p.m. a 5:00 p.m. Asimismo, los días martes y jueves la comunidad estudiantil también podrá participar de este programa en Radio Tropical 1040 AM a partir de las 3:00 p.m a 5:00 p.m.
