LET ME TELL YOU A STORY: The wolf who once dreamed of being King

Donde viven maravillosas creaturas en el bosque mágico se guardan muchos secretos, los árboles cantan, susurran historias que platican con su amigo el viento, en donde se encuentran los árboles más altos ellos fueron testigos de lo ocurrido.

Where wonderful creatures live in the magical forest, many secrets are kept. The trees sing, whisper stories, and tell their friend the wind. Where the tallest trees are, they witnessed what happened.

Un día el lobito llamado Coloso le puso mucha atención de lo que el susurro del viento anunciaba. “El rey león había tomado vacaciones”. El pequeño lobezno quiso aprovechar la ocasión y se le ocurrió algo – ¡je, je, je! – Él también podría ser rey de la selva, lo seguro es que nadie reclamaría, entonces busco un montículo para estar más alto que los demás y lo alcanzaran a ver, varios animales se fueron acercando para escucharlo, porque sabían que a veces exageraba un poco.

One day, the little wolf named Colossus paid close attention to what the whisper of the wind was announcing. «The Lion King had taken a vacation.» The little wolf cub wanted to take advantage of the opportunity and had an idea—hee hee hee!—he too could be king of the jungle. Surely no one would complain, he looked for a mound so he could be higher than the others and be seen. Several animals came closer to listen, because they knew he sometimes exaggerated a bit.

Entonces levanto las garritas lo más que pudo y haciendo gala de exagerar dijo, “Me proclamo rey del bosque mágico”, hoy soy el más inteligente, astuto y guapo, levantando las manos ¡soy el rey del mundo mágico! Nadie me puede vencer, ¿hay alguien que diga lo contrario? Se sentía con la actitud de un rey.

Then he raised his little claws as high as he could and, showing off his exaggeration, said, «I proclaim myself king of the magic forest.» Today I am the smartest, most cunning, and most handsome. Raising his hands, he said, «I am the king of the magical world! No one can beat me. Is there anyone who can say otherwise?» He felt like he had the attitude of a king.

¡Grandemente sonreía vanidoso! el conejo, la lagartija y la ardilla se reían bajito, también el mapache con todo y antifaz ¡je, je, je! No podían disimular el asombro de tan grande barbaridad. Pero… La tortuga lo miraba sabiamente queriendo saber hasta dónde iba a llegar su exageración y lo dejaba hablar.

He smiled vainly! The rabbit, the lizard, and the squirrel laughed softly, as did the raccoon, complete with mask! Hee hee hee! They couldn’t hide their astonishment at such a huge outrage. But… The turtle looked at him wisely, wanting to know how far his exaggeration would go, and let him speak.

Con más potencia comento Coloso – ¡el bosque mágico tiene un nuevo rey! ¡Yooo! Le gustaba ser observado con cautela y con cierta admiración por su gran osadía, la tortuga sabia no pudo más y pausadamente se acercó y dijo…

El lobito dijo, pide permiso para hablar, interrumpiendo a su amiga la tortuga. Con tu permiso, el lobito sonrió y la tortuga continuo, oye lobito ¿no crees que estas exagerando un poco? Inmediatamente contesto – ¡No! – entonces llego una ráfaga de viento que a todos descontrolo un poco y otra más fuerte, el coloso estiro las manos para arriba y dijo – ¡Observen como controlo el viento! – sintiendo el aire en la cara al sentir lo frio.

The little wolf said, «Ask permission to speak,» interrupting his friend the turtle. «Excuse me,» the little wolf smiled, and the turtle continued, «Hey, little wolf, don’t you think you’re exaggerating a little?» He immediately replied, «No!» Then a gust of wind came, throwing everyone off their stride, and another, stronger one. The giant stretched his hands up and said, «Watch how I control the wind!» feeling the air on his face as he felt the cold.

El mapache dijo ¡carambolas ahora si se manchó! Afirmo la tortuga con el cuello, el lobito estiro nuevamente los brazos altos como si tuviera un gran poder sobre el viento, pero el viento también pensaba lo mismo y entonces se alejó,

The raccoon said, «Wow, now he’s stained!» The turtle nodded with his neck. The little wolf stretched his arms high again as if he had great power over the wind, but the wind was thinking the same thing and moved away.

Un perico que estaba en una rama junto a su amiga la lechuza le dijo – ¿mira que si tu fueras tan fuerte? continuo ¡detendrías al viento ahora mismo! Y todos los animales se quedaron perplejos, ahora si se la vería en aprietos, el lobito se afianzo más fuerte y levantando los brazos, ¡de repente! el aire tomo una fuerza increíble haciéndose más fuerte y enfrentándolo con un gran ¡ventorronaso! el cual hizo caer de una manera estruendosa aquel lobito.

A parakeet, who was on a branch next to his friend the owl, said, «Look, if you were that strong?» he continued, «You’d stop the wind right now!» And all the animals were perplexed. Now she was in real trouble. The little wolf held on even tighter and, raising his arms, suddenly! The air took on an incredible force, growing stronger and hitting him with a great gale of wind! This made the little wolf fall with a thunderous crash.

¡Carambolas! Daba tumbos y vueltas de aquí para allá – pam, pum, pom – hasta que con una roca se detuvo recibiendo tremendo trancazo, ¡hayyy! Y después un silencio total y muchas carcajadas de los animales después de todo por lo sucedido.

Entonces se escuchó un gran rugido ¡Grrrrrr! El rey león había vuelto, el Coloso por fin se pudo parar, todo adolorido – mmm – Le dijo la tortuga, ¿quiere que le diga a el león quien es el rey ahora? ¡No! Dijo yo solo exageraba un poquito – ¡je, je, je! –

Then a great roar was heard: Grrrrrr! The lion king was back, the Colossus was finally able to stand, all sore – mmm – The turtle said, “Do you want me to tell the lion who is the king now?” “No!” He said, “I was just exaggerating a little” – hee hee hee! –

El león paso con su gran melena y su color café cobrizo con cada paso que daba su presencia era evidente y todos los animales al paso le hacían reverencia, al acercarse al lobo le dijo – vamos coloso solo eres un pequeño lobezno – el coloso humilde y sencillo lo saludo. También entendió que nunca es bueno exagerar tanto y que le costó un buen calambrazo.

The lion walked by with his long mane and coppery brown color. With each step he took, his presence was evident, and all the animals along the way bowed to him. As he approached the wolf, he said, “Come on, Colossus, you’re just a little wolf cub.” The humble and unassuming Colossus greeted him. He also understood that it’s never good to exaggerate so much, and that cost him a good shock.

Él quiso soñar que un día, él podría ser “El rey del bosque mágico” y caminar enfrente de los demás animales, admirando a él gran rey león.

He wanted to dream that one day, he could be “The king of the magic forest” and walk in front of the other animals, admiring the great lion king.
