A mediados del mes de mayo del año en curso, fue nombrado como nuevo Gerente de Tele Caribe para toda la región costeña: el abogado, periodista, folcklorista, creador y estimulador de talentos musicales y artísticos el Dr. Ismael Fernández Gámez.

Hoy deseo dedicarle esta nota editorial en PUNTA DE LANZA, a este caballero y amigo, que de manera vehemente fue uno de los que le dio a su región el merecido título de: DEPARTAMENTO DE LA GUAJIRA, y no como usualmente se decía, la Guajira, cuya adjetivación no representaba el valor y el respeto que se merece esa bellisima región, poseedora de bellas mujeres, con riquísimas costumbres culturales y sabiduría ancestrales.

Today I want to dedicate this editorial note in PUNTA DE LANCE, to this gentleman and friend, who in a vehement way was one of those who gave his region the deserved title of: DEPARTMENT OF LA GUAJIRA, and not, as it was usually said, La Guajira. , whose adjectives did not represent the value and respect that this beautiful region deserves, possessing beautiful women, with rich cultural customs and ancestral wisdom.

Yo lo conocí por intermedio de un amigo común, el empresario Reginaldo Pérez, en una agradable reunión celebrada en un restaurante frente al prestigioso hotel símbolo de Barranquilla, El Prado. Allí lo vi y traté por primera vez, y esto hace más de 15 años. Se distinguía en ese momento por su prudencia para conversar, para lo cual empleaba la gran técnica del saber escuchar. Naturalmente eso causaba la impresión de ser introvertido, de pocas palabras. En el transcurso de los minutos, y talvez al calor y efecto de unos buenos vinos, le escuche sus opiniones basadas en los temas expuestos, que ya esbozaba con precisión, porque se manifestaban bien digeridos y analizados, las que con sencillez daba a conocer.
