La noche del 16 de Enero, en el hermoso patio del museo MUHCA, Museo Histórico de Cartagena, lleno de frondosos arboles y una suave brisa marina el FICCI 2026, lanzo oficialmente el afiche del Festival de Cine, mas antiguo de Latinoamérica, hermoso escenario para tan magno evento en esta institución que cuenta con mas de 92 años de presencia en la vida cultural del Caribe Colombiano. Su director Moisés Álvarez Marín, la directora del Ficci 2026 Margarita Diaz Casas, su Junta Directiva y Comité ejecutivo les dieron la bienvenida a todos los invitados a tan sensacional noche en Cartagena.

On the evening of January 16th, in the beautiful courtyard of the MUHCA (Cartagena Historical Museum), shaded by lush trees and a gentle sea breeze, FICCI 2026 officially launched its poster for the oldest film festival in Latin America. The venue provided a stunning setting for such a grand event at this institution, which boasts over 92 years of presence in the cultural life of the Colombian Caribbean. Director Moisés Álvarez Marín, FICCI 2026 Director Margarita Díaz Casas, along with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, welcomed all the guests to this sensational evening in Cartagena.

En 1959 Víctor Nieto Núñez, inicia los contactos en Francia, para realizar un Festival de Cine en su Cartagena, pensando en la belleza de su ciudad y sus atractivos turísticos e históricos

In 1959, Víctor Nieto Núñez initiated contacts in France to establish a Film Festival in his native Cartagena, envisioning the beauty of his city and its tourist and historical attractions.

Desde ese momento Cartagena de Indias se constituyo en la ciudad sede del FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE, Y por donde han pasados estrellas famosas como Maribel Verdu,Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton entre otros y Directores famosos como  Arturo Ripstein,Jorge Perugorria, Francisco Lombardi, Carlos Saura, Gael García, entre muchos de los que han estado presente en tan importante Festival.

From that moment on, Cartagena de Indias became the host city of the Cartagena International Film Festival, which has hosted famous stars such as Maribel Verdú, Owen Wilson, and Tilda Swinton, among others, and renowned directors such as Arturo Ripstein, Jorge Perugorría, Francisco Lombardi, Carlos Saura, and Gael García Bernal, among many others.

Cartagena además ha sido escenario de filmación de aclamadas películas como Quemada con Marlon Brando, La Misión con Robert de Niro, Crónica de una muerte anunciada con Ornella Muti, El Amor en los tiempos del Cólera, E hilo rojo y muchas películas colombianas y extranjeras  por lo que se le considera a la Meca del Cine Colombiano

Cartagena has also been the filming location for acclaimed films such as Burn! with Marlon Brando, The Mission with Robert De Niro, Chronicle of a Death Foretold with Ornella Muti, Love in the Time of Cholera, The Red Thread, and many other Colombian and foreign films, which is why it is considered the Mecca of Colombian Cinema.

Kike Sierra Cabarcas, fue el creador del afiche del FICCI 65 en el año 2026,que esta vez recreo los momentos inolvidables del cine cartagenero y colombiano con un gran árbol frondoso de nuestros caribe colombiano donde niños y jóvenes se subían para ver gratis las películas que se exhibían nuestros teatros, es la relación entre la ciudad y sus habitantes, con el fondo majestuoso del cerro de la popa, siendo este un homenaje a nuestro ecosistema cultural que ha crecido en sus s65 años de existencia. Con raíces sólidas y profundas en la ciudad en un lenguaje narrativo y cultural de este gran diseñador gráfico, con estudios en Barcelona y Valencia España.

Kike Sierra Cabarcas created the poster for the 65th Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) in 2026. This year, he recreated unforgettable moments in Cartagena and Colombian cinema with a large, leafy tree typical of the Colombian Caribbean, where children and young people would climb to watch films for free in our theaters. It represents the connection between the city and its inhabitants, set against the majestic backdrop of La Popa hill. This poster is a tribute to our cultural ecosystem, which has grown over its 65 years of existence. With deep and solid roots in the city, this work is expressed through the narrative and cultural language of this great graphic designer, who studied in Barcelona and Valencia, Spain.

El Festival de Cine de Cartagena de Indias, se celebra del 14 al 19 de abril de 2026, con muestras de cine nacional e internacional de los países invitados, charlas, paneles, talleres con cineastas, actividades académicas, Cine en los Barrios, y Todos al Cine que lleva el cine a comunidades, escuelas y universidades de la ciudad. Y la gran fiesta de los premios India Catalina a nuestra Televisión, donde se premia a lo mejor y sus actuaciones. La Agencia Mundial de Prensa, estará cubriendo este famoso festival con nuestro Consejero Delegado Global de Turismo el Dr. Guillermo Lozano Sarah.

The Cartagena Film Festival will take place from April 14th to 19th, 2026, featuring screenings of national and international films from guest countries, talks, panels, workshops with filmmakers, academic activities, «Cinema in the Neighborhoods,» and «Everyone to the Cinema,» which brings film to communities, schools, and universities throughout the city. The festival will also include the India Catalina Awards, a grand celebration of our television, honoring the best in television and its performances.
