He recibido del empresario, Capitán y profesor de navegación aérea de la Armada Nacional, un hermoso libro de la ciudad de Cartagena de indias, «Cartagena de Indias destino Religioso y Turístico» que registra fotográficamente el valor histórico de nuestra amada ciudad, y la gran obra de arte de los españoles, que, en buena hora, nos dejaron como referente destacado para hispano América y el mundo, en la que su huella indeleble se hace notar como verdaderos maestros de la arquitectura, y el arte: Murallas, fuertes, iglesias, casas, conventos, y hasta el desvió del rio la Magdalena, para encausarlo como canal del dique para que se comunique con el mar.

I have received from the businessman, Captain and professor of air navigation of the National Navy, a beautiful book of the city of Cartagena de Indias, «Cartagena de Indias destino Religioso y Turístico»which photographically records the historical value of our beloved city, and the great work of art of the Spaniards, who, in good time, left us as an outstanding reference for Hispanic America and the world, in which their indelible mark is noted as true masters of architecture and art: Walls, forts, churches, houses, convents, and even the diversion of the Magdalena River, to channel it as a dam channel so that it communicates with the sea.

La mayoría de los 12 libros de fotografías, excelentemente editados, son de la autoría directa de Jaime, muchas de estas, las logro captar desde su nave que tenía especialmente equipada para fotos aéreas.
Como cosa que hay que resaltar, es la excelente ocurrencia de hacer registros parecidos en tres momentos diferentes, que entre unos y otros, difieren en tiempo, mas no dé lugar, cosa que nos muestra un proceso visible de desarrollo de la ciudad, que ha servido de referente, para saber quién, de verdad, ha sabido trabajar por la ciudad, como alcalde.

Most of the 12 excellently edited books of photographs are Jaime’s own work, and many of them were captured from his ship, which he had specially equipped for aerial photos. Something that should be highlighted is the excellent idea of ​​making similar records at three different times, which differ in time, but not in place, which shows us a visible process of development of the city, which has served as a reference to know who, truly, has known how to work for the city, as mayor.

La labor fotográfica de Jaime, son piezas valiosísimas para la historia de la patria, que deben trascender hasta llegar a la organización mundial que califica los patrimonios universales de la humanidad, como un tesoro evolutivo en la historia, que cambió la mente de sus habitantes, pero quedo el recuerdo de lo material de modo intacto, que se conserva como un verdadero patrimonio histórico al servicio y aprendizaje de la humanidad. Ojalá que, desde esta importante tribuna, llegue esta nota en imágenes, a esas organizaciones que se preocupan por la historia y sus monumentos históricos.

Jaime’s photographic work is invaluable pieces for the history of the country, which must transcend until reaching the world organization that classifies the universal heritage of humanity as an evolutionary treasure in history, which changed the minds of its inhabitants, but left the memory of the material intact, which is preserved as a true historical heritage at the service and learning of humanity. Todo este compendio fotográfico, nos regalan las costumbres del pasado en gráfica, para mostrarnos a una ciudad encantadora, como también se honra a sus organizadores urbanísticos, que hicieron del centro histórico, o ciudad amurallada, la ciudad ventilada, con las brisas del mar. Esta es la ciudad fresca.
Jaime plasma en sus doce volúmenes fotográficos registros en diversas épocas Allí están todos los recuerdos del momento, lo que invita y estimula al romance, el que muchas veces se recurre a la ciudad para ciertas celebraciones locales, nacionales e internacionales, remitiéndose a la usanza del pasado, porque la ciudad, es una especie de escenario que se convierte en teatro para la solemnidad en la tradición.

El libro al que se refiere mi nota, lo titulo: Cartagena destino Religioso y turístico. Allí recoge en detalle, todas las piezas, construcciones iglesias y conventos, calles y callecitas de la ciudad heroica, como sus encantos y su colorido, que simboliza, un espíritu alegre, de libertad y jamás de esclavitud. Se muestra la ciudad, como símbolo de respeto, de porte y dignidad.

The book to which my note refers is entitled: Cartagena, a religious and tourist destination. It contains in detail all the pieces, buildings, churches and convents, streets and alleys of the heroic city, as well as its charms and its color, which symbolizes a joyful spirit of freedom and never slavery. The city is shown as a symbol of respect, poise and dignity.

En esta oportunidad Como en algunas otras tuvo el apoyo, del reconocido publicista Don Hernán Borda Gómez, (Bogotá) que se alió a esta gran cruzada del Capitán Borda, para poner la belleza de Cartagena, su vocación religiosa y el temor a Dios, para que veamos la ciudad desde los aires que tiene como infinito marco, el cielo, el mar y sus bellos atardeceres y amaneceres.
