JOSE PERES ICON OF COLOMBIAN NATIONAL ARCHITECTURE

Pocas veces he conocido personas que sean poseedoras de la excelencia profesional y que lleven de compañía, la humildad y la sencillez. Por esa razón, mi invitado de hoy, es el gran arquitecto de la transformación para el aprovechamiento de las bellezas naturales que estuvieron ocultas en Barranquilla durante muchos años, y que gracias al también visionario Alex Char y su estilo continuista, permitieron trazar políticas para un ordenado desarrollo, para pensar en ciudad, región. Por eso, Barranquilla es la capital del desarrollo organizado del todo el país.

I have rarely met people who possess professional excellence and who are accompanied by humility and simplicity. For that reason, my guest today is the great architect of the transformation for the use of the natural beauties that were hidden in Barranquilla for many years, and that thanks to the also visionary Alex Char and his continuous style, allowed us to outline policies for a ordered development, to think about city, region. For this reason, Barranquilla is the capital of organized development of the entire country.

Lo mejor que pudo hacer el Alcalde, fue escoger a fino tino, al artista de la arquitectura José Peres, para entregarle el diamante en bruto, que estuvo inadvertido durante muchísimos, para convertirlo en una verdadera joya para toda Colombia.

Barranquilla es hoy, una vitrina mundial que puede mostrar como uno de sus más bellos atractivos el Malecón del Rio la Magdalena, para citar una de las tantas obras de la arquitectura, de la mano de la transformación de Puerto Colombia y su histórico muelle por donde entro el cosmopolismo, que enriqueció culturalmente al caribe colombiano, y también el país. Esa mezcla de costumbres, es lo que distingue al caribe, como personas diferentes de todos los habitantes de Colombia.

Barranquilla is today a world showcase that can show as one of its most beautiful attractions the Malecón del Río la Magdalena, to mention one of the many works of architecture, hand in hand with the transformation of Puerto Colombia and its historic pier where Cosmopolism entered, which culturally enriched the Colombian Caribbean, and also the country. El arquitecto Peres, ha sido coherente y consecuente, con esa condición poli costumbrista, que en buena hora aprovechó para honrar el pasado y conciliarlo con el presente a través de sus diseños arquitectónicos.

Que bueno que la ciudad de Cartagena, apuntara por esa línea para diseñar un urbanismo organizado, en que antes construir, estén disponibles los servicios públicos y las vías de penetración, con espacios amplios. No hay necesidad de buscar en el exterior, cuando tenemos en la misma ciudad profesionales valiosos, como Rafael Tono Lemaitre, Covo Torres, Alberto Zamudio, Rafael Luna y muchos más. Y… también, a una hora treinta minutos, en Barranquilla, está el visionario que lo transforma todo positivamente, como lo es el arquitecto Peres.

And… also, an hour and thirty minutes away, in Barranquilla, there is the visionary who transforms everything positively, such as the architect Peres.

Se dice, que detrás de un hombre exitoso, esta una gran mujer. Pues cierto es, no me cabe la menor duda.
Esa dama protagonista, se llama Patricia Pallares, que, en compañía de sus hijos, José José, Joshua, Pedro José, y, José, formaron un equipo familiar maravilloso, ejemplar, que sirvió de soporte para que, el genio de la Arquitectura nacional, creara su propia lámpara de Aladino, como mago y ejecutor de sus propios sueños y deseos.

Por ello, su prestigio esta entre los grandes del mundo. Y su originalidad, se ve plenamente justificada, con los nombres con que bautizo a sus hijos varones, en los que honra la esencia y el amor de sus orígenes, que creció en armonía, de la mano de Dios.

El Arquitecto Peres, es autor de muchas construcciones en Barranquilla, el caribe y en todo el país. Y… tengo entendido, que también fuera de las fronteras nacionales, cosa, que lo convierte en exponente del talento colombiano, a la vista de los diversos gustos en el ámbito externo.

Su particular estilo artístico, se debe a que dedica unos meses al año, para viajar por todo el mundo, para alimentarse de lo antiguo enriquecido por la historia, que luego fusiona en su imaginación creativa, con lo moderno, que esta alimentado por la fantasía, en que lo inadvertido, lo transforma en maravilloso.
Todas estas experiencias y vivencias, se las transmite a sus afortunados alumnos, que salen al mercado laboral, con la impronta del gran maestro.

Hace veinte años, lo conocí, y en una de las reuniones sociales en su casa, en las que tiene un piano de cola, nos deleitaba invitando a un pianista, para que acompañara la velada entre amigos, para una noche bohemia, amenizado por los más bellos recuerdos del bolero, o las baladas.

Defino a José como el artista que compendia el buen gusto, la originalidad, y la sencillez, todo mezclado con una gran capacidad para socializarse y socializar, arropado de una timidez, que yo llamaría prudencia. En esa caja de simpatías atrayentes, también está un hombre de carácter fuerte y temperamental, pero decente.

Hace pocos días, recibió del presidente del Congreso de la Republica, Doctor Efraín Cepeda, el reconocimiento como homenaje a su aporte al desarrollo de la ciudad y del país. En tal sentido, también lo hizo el Gobernador del Departamento del Atlántico, Dr Eduardo Verano de la Rosa.
