121 years of SERVICE AND FRIENDSHIP from Rotary International

Este 23 de febrero Rotary Internacional cumple 121 de años de haber sido creada por Paul Harris en la ciudad de Chicago USA Estados Unidos. Harris abogado de profesión, con un grupo de profesionales y empresarios se reunieron con el propósito de que en la ciudad de Chicago se podía fomentar, La Amistad, la Ética en las empresas y el Servicio a la comunidad. Allí nación Rotary bajo estas premisas establecidas por su fundador.

This February 23rd, Rotary International celebrates its 121st anniversary, having been founded by Paul Harris in Chicago, USA. Harris, a lawyer by profession, and a group of professionals and businesspeople met with the purpose of fostering friendship, ethical business practices, and community service in Chicago. Rotary was born there, based on these principles established by its founder.

Y el nombre de Rotary, viene del ingles rótate por que las primeras reuniones se hacían rotando en
las oficinas de los miembros del grupo en creación, comenzó como un pequeño grupo de amigos
de Chicago, se extendió a otras ciudades de los Estados Unidos y luego en todo el mundo. Rotary
Internacional hoy está en más de 200 países al rededor del mundo y con mas de 1.200 rotarios
trabajando y promoviendo proyectos en una de los 7 campos de oportunidades que la
organización tiene para el enfoque de sus esfuerzos humanitarios y proyectos de servicio que se
realizan para potencializar su impacto global estas áreas son:

The name Rotary comes from the English word «rotate,» because the first meetings were held in rotation among the offices of the members of the fledgling group. It began as a small group of friends in Chicago, spread to other cities in the United States, and then throughout the world. Rotary International is currently present in more than 200 countries around the world, with over 1,200 Rotarians working and promoting projects in one of the seven areas of opportunity that the organization focuses on for its humanitarian efforts and service projects. These areas are designed to maximize its global impact.

COLOMBIA.

En Colombia Rotary nació en 1926 cuando se crearon los primeros clubes en Barranquilla y Bogotá, impulsados por James H.Roth enviado por Rotary Internacional para establecer los clubes en el pais. En la actualidad se cuenta con 140 clubes, dos Distritos 4271 -4281 cubriendo la geografía nacional.

Rotary in Colombia began in 1926 with the creation of the first clubs in Barranquilla and Bogotá, spearheaded by James H. Roth, who was sent by Rotary International to establish clubs in the country. Currently, there are 140 clubs, distributed across two Districts (4271 and 4281), covering the entire nation.

FUNDACION ROTARIA / ROTARY FOUNDATION

La Fundación Rotaria es una organización benéfica publica sin fines de lucro, creada por Rotary Internacional que transforma las contribuciones de sus donantes en proyectos humanitarios sostenibles alrededor del mundo, con más de 100 años de haber sido creada financia los diversos proyectos de la organización rotaria.

The Rotary Foundation is a non-profit public charity, created by Rotary International, that transforms donor contributions into sustainable humanitarian projects around the world. For over 100 years, it has funded the diverse projects of the Rotary organization.

CARTAGENA

En la ciudad de Cartagena, los 4 clubes de la ciudad ofrecieron una Cena de Integración, que
además conto con la presencia de Rotarios de Brasil, que se encontraban de visita en la ciudad.

In the city of Cartagena, the four Rotary clubs hosted a Fellowship Dinner, which was also attended by Rotarians from Brazil who were visiting the city.

Y desde el 2007 fue creado el Club Rotario Cartagena de Indias, actual Presidente Clara Sagre,
cuenta con un Club Rotaract y un Club Interact Cartagena de Indias y dos grupos de Fomento
rotario en las veredas de Leticia y el Recreo a orillas del Canal del Dique, con obras financiadas a
través de subvenciones distritales y globales. EL Oasis de Jacquin trabajado con la Fundación
Herlinda Moisés, teniendo el primer Centro Experimental Pedagógico Ambiental de Cartagena y
los proyectos de dotación de las áreas de cocina y Comedor de Dones de la Misericordia, son los
proyectos y obras realizadas entre otras en sus años de funcionamiento en la ciudad.

And since 2007, the Rotary Club of Cartagena de Indias, currently presided over by Clara Sagre, has a Rotaract Club and an Interact Club, and two Rotary outreach groups in the rural communities of Leticia and El Recreo, along the banks of the Canal del Dique, with projects funded through district and global grants. The Jacquin Oasis project, in collaboration with the Herlinda Moisés Foundation, includes Cartagena’s first Environmental Pedagogical Experimental Center, and the projects to equip the kitchen and dining areas of the Dones de la Misericordia (Donations of Mercy) soup kitchen are among the projects and works carried out during its years of operation in the city.
