COLOMBIA: The 64th edition of the Great Cartagena Film Festival FICCI 2025 concluded on April 6.

Con gran éxito y lleno total en todas las funciones, conversatorios, encuentros y talleres finalizó la 64a versión del Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena de Indias, que se realizó del 01 al 06 de abril 2025.

The 64th Cartagena International Film Festival, held from April 1 to 6, 2025, concluded with great success and a full house at all screenings, discussions, meetings, and workshops.

El Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena (FICCI) se fundó en 1960 y es el Festival de Cine mas antiguo de América Latina. El escritor y crítico de cine Víctor Nieto fue su fundador. Pensado en posesionar a Cartagena como un destino turístico internacional tuvo esta maravillosa, excelente idea, además de promover la diversidad cultural y la construcción de mensajes de identidad genuinos, la renovación de la dramaturgia y la caligrafía con actividades de itinerancia, exhibición y formación que fomentan la cultura del cine en Cartagena y en otras ciudades del país.

The Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) was founded in 1960 and is the oldest film festival in Latin America. Writer and film critic Víctor Nieto was its founder. With the goal of establishing Cartagena as an international tourist destination, he came up with this wonderful, excellent idea. In addition to promoting cultural diversity and building genuine identity messages, he also developed a renewed approach to drama and calligraphy through touring, exhibition, and training activities that foster film culture in Cartagena and other cities across the country.

El FICCI, se realiza anualmente y otorga la estatuilla INDIA CATALINA a lo mejor del Cine Iberoamericano en Competencia, también se realiza dentro del marco del Festival a lo mejor de la Televisión Colombiana, estatuilla creada por el escultor colombiano Héctor Lombana en 1960, para premiar las diferentes categorías competitivas que participan en el Festival y se adoptó el mismo galardón para los premios de la televisión colombiana.

FICCI, held annually, awards the INDIA CATALINA statuette to the best of Ibero-American Cinema in Competition. It is also held within the framework of the Festival to the best of Colombian Television. This statuette was created by Colombian sculptor Héctor Lombana in 1960 to recognize the different competitive categories that participate in the Festival. The same award was adopted for the Colombian television awards.

En el ámbito cinematográfico de América Latina el de Cartagena ocupa lugar de privilegio como los Festivales de Venecia, Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, Sundance entre otros. Entre los artistas homenajeados en la 64ª edición del Festival en este 2025 estuvieron: Raoul Peck Director Haitiano, Xavier Dolan, Pablo Larrain, Arturo Jaramillo y por Colombia Margarita Rosa de Francisco y Manolo Cardona.

In the Latin American film world, Cartagena holds a privileged place, along with the Venice, Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, and Sundance festivals, among others. Among the artists honored at the 64th edition of the Festival in 2025 were: Haitian director Raoul Peck; Xavier Dolan; Pablo Larrain; Arturo Jaramillo; and, from Colombia, Margarita Rosa de Francisco and Manolo Cardona.

• Netflix con Cien años de Soledad y el documental Los Niños Perdidos, también recibieron estatuillas doradas.

Se bajó el telón de este Ficci 64ª edición, dando agradecimientos a todo ese gran equipo de excelente colaboradores con que cuenta este monumental festival.

Cartagena cerro con emoción la edición del 64 Ficci que convirtió a esta ciudad en Pantalla Viva. Con más de 190 películas. Margarita Diaz directora nos informó que hubo una asistencia de mas de 60.00 espectadores, donde se proyectaron películas provenientes de 57 paises,12 salas oficiales,10 escenarios alternativos donde destacamos el Cine en los Barrios un espacio donde el Cine sale a los barrios y poblaciones cercanas a Cartagena 32 comunidades, una isla y cuatro corregimientos con funciones gratuitas gozaron del espectáculo del cine.

Cartagena closed the 64th edition of Ficci with excitement, transforming this city into a Living Screen. With more than 190 films, Margarita Diaz, director, reported that there was an attendance of more than 60,000 spectators, where films from 57 countries were screened, 12 official theaters, 10 alternative venues, including Cinema in the Neighborhoods, a space where cinema reaches the neighborhoods and towns near Cartagena. 32 communities, one island, and four districts enjoyed the spectacle of cinema with free screenings.
