El pasado fin de semana, 20 de septiembre, se reunieron todos los participantes de la «CANTATA», amantes de la música, para celebrar el día del amor y la amistad.

Muchos delos miembros de la «CANTATA» son empresarios, como profesionales de las diferentes ramas de las Ciencias. Me sorprendió ver que, además de ser maravillosos solistas en la ejecución de indistintos instrumentos, también son cantantes, que expresan sus sentimientos con alma, vida y corazón. Se goza al máximo lo que hacen, considerando que nacimos para ser felices, no para estar tristes.

Vi con agrado, el poder y los efectos que genera la música, que no solo rejuvenece el ánimo, sino alegra el alma, y el espíritu. Esa es la esencia de la «Cantata», o, la cofradía: cantarle a la alegría… Toda esta belleza espiritual ocurrió, en un lugar muy acogedor de la pujante ciudad de Barraquilla, frente al parque Venezuela, donde está ubicada una romántica Pizzería de nombre: “LA PLAZITA,” la que yo solía visitar todos los viernes, en tiempos pasados, atraído por el olor a vino, pizza y piano, que era amenizado por voluntarios que cantaban boleros y canciones románticas como Washington Freyle, y el dueño del establecimiento, Erick Vasallo.

I saw with pleasure the power and effects that music generates, which not only rejuvenates the spirit, but also gladdens the soul and spirit. That is the essence of the «Cantata», or, the brotherhood: singing to joy… All this spiritual beauty occurred, in a very cozy place in the thriving city of Barraquilla, in front of the Venezuela park, where a romantic Pizzeria named: “LA PLAZITA,” which I used to visit every Friday, in times past, attracted by the smell of wine, pizza and piano, which was enlivened by volunteers who sang boleros and romantic songs like Washington Freyle, and the owner of the establishment, Erick Vasallo.

Es oportuno señalar, que Erick Vasallo, además de ser un empresario exitoso, es cantante profesional. Es un reconocido personaje que incursiono en la televisión colombiana y participo hace pocos años en una novela titulada: “Tan lejos como puedas.” Allí actuó Erick, como apoyo secundario, haciendo el papel de sacerdote, siendo la protagonista principal la actriz cartagenera, Mirian De Lourdes, reconocida nacional e internacionalmente.

EL bello rincón de los abuelos, tiene detalles muy típicos colonialistas, entrelazados con el espíritu costumbrista caribeño, similares a ciertos sitios románticos de España, y de la hermana ciudad de Cartagena de Indias, y por supuesto, evocando la dinámica comercial popular, que está reflejada en las tiendas de los barrios de la ciudad de Barranquilla, que se homologan entre sí con todas las del Caribe colombiano, por el colorido de sus mensajes que son eminentemente costeños, que se expresan y hablan por sí solos, y que están graficados con sus letreros simpáticos y dicientes.

Quien lo creyera que allí, en ese “noble rincón de los abuelos” vivieron los de Erick, Don Clemente Vasallo, autor y dueño de la Voz de la Patria, casado con doña Herlinda Gómez, monteriana de nacimiento y tradición, que pareciendo seguir el curso de la ciudad nativa, “nada como evocar cruzando callejuelas, los tiempos de la cruz y de la espada, del ahumado candil y las pajuelas” se convirtiera en una pequeña réplica de los apuntes curiosos del Cartagenero que en su picara, satírica y maliciosa inteligencia poética diría que El BORDILLO, nos evoca el pasado, para decir: “Mas hoy, plena de rancio desaliño, bien puede inspirar ese cariño, (El Bordillo) que uno les tiene a sus zapatos viejos.” Así me sentí yo de agradable y cómodo. Pues, siendo un viejo con mis próximos 81 años, aun, me sentía como nuevo, en zapatos viejos.

Allí cantan exponentes de la música cubana, y de toda América, como de Europa, de España, que de alguna u otra manera están presentes con sus melodiosas canciones. Se escucha a Sergio Vargas, Juan Carlos Coronel, Nelson Pinedo, Cesar del Portillo, El Puma, ellos, están cerca al alma del Bordillo porque todos los viernes, se evocan en este acogedor lugar, sus canciones. Se escucha el punteo de la típica guitarra Flamenca y sus lamentos. Si, porque el bolero nace en Cuba y se transforma en España y adquiere el sabor sin igual, en el caribe de la bella Colombia.

El propósito de esta nota, es invitar a la juventud del mundo, la que algún día llegara a viejos, a que piensen que la buena música rejuvenece el espíritu y nos anima a que seamos mejores, más amables, tolerantes, sencillos, y humildes, sobre todo en un mundo de violencias y de velocidades innecesarias, que nos obliga a que propiciemos el amor, para neutralizar la violencia.

EL amor y la felicidad, es un patrimonio natural y personal, que no cuesta nada y deja si, muchas ganancias. ¿Si hasta los gallos les cantan a sus viejas gallinas, porque no permitirles a los pájaros que aun vuelan, que canten dentro y fuera de las jaulas del amor?
