Pero a nosotros se nos encomendó cuidar la naturaleza y no abusar de esta. La mente humana lo acerca todo o lo distancia, y, dependiendo del objetivo que le tracen sus emociones, deseos e intenciones, así será la clave para descubrir el éxito.

Cuando llegué a la ciudad de Barranquilla, hace casi 20 años, por cuestiones profesionales y me quede porque me gusto su ambiente, muy parecido al de mi tierra.

El tiempo paso y entre en la etapa del pensionado y como mi naturaleza siempre ha sido servir, trabajar e inventar, me entusiasmo la idea de la energía eólica, y le sugerí a unos extranjeros que visitáramos a Piojo.

Time passed and I entered the pension stage and since my nature has always been to serve, work and invent, I became enthusiastic about the idea of ​​wind energy, and I suggested to some foreigners that we visit Piojo.

Me fasciné de PIOJÒ, de su gente, del ambiente y de todo lo que tenían en su entorno social. Pareciera PIOJO el punto centro desde donde se reparten las comunicaciones. Llegue a pensar y soñar, con tener una modesta casita y patio, en plena plaza para vivir el tiempo que Dios me permita o al menos, en lo posible, pasar en familia los fines de semana. Así de atractivo es.

I was fascinated by PIOJÒ, its people, the environment and everything they had in their social environment. PIOJO seems to be the central point from where communications are distributed. I came to think and dream of having a modest house and patio, in the middle of the square to live as long as God allows me. Or, at least, if possible, spend weekends with your family. That’s how attractive he is.

Tanto me fascino el inmenso balcón natural, que la conocí de a pie hasta donde me dieron mis fuerzas. Y, les confieso, que la vi con la semejanza de un paraíso en donde se cultiva de todo lo bueno: Aguacate, maíz guayaba yuca, plátano, guanábana, mango, ciruelas, papaya, patilla, melón, uvita de playa, mamón, avicultura, ganadería, arte y música. Me atrevería decir, que estas tierras están bendecidas a tal extremo, que a lo mejor hasta el café daría frutos.

Mis anhelos de vivir, o tener un pedazo de terruño, se los llevo el tiempo, pero jamás se borraron de mi memoria, y menos acompañados de la capacidad del pensamiento, para construir sobre su cima, los más bellos ideales, que aunque sean sueños, que ya para mi posiblemente sean irrealizables, los comparto inocentemente, para los visionarios y comerciantes, que quieran abrir las puerta de sus éxitos. Entonces me pregunto: ¿Se imaginan ustedes que PIOJO se convierta en la ciudad ecológica del caribe? ¿Con hostales de pocos pisos, para que jamás la visibilidad se altere? ¿Restaurantes a las fueras, a campo abierto, pero dentro del perímetro, para que el turista nativo y extranjero se deleiten de esplendor?

My desires to live, or to have a piece of land, were taken away by time, but they were never erased from my memory, and even less accompanied by the capacity of thought, to build on its summit, the most beautiful ideals, which even if they are dreams. , which for me are possibly unrealizable, I share them innocently, for the visionaries and merchants, who want to open the doors of their successes. So I wonder: Can you imagine that PIOJO becomes the ecological city of the Caribbean? With low-rise hostels, so that visibility is never altered? Restaurants on the outskirts, in the open countryside, but within the perimeter, so that native and foreign tourists can delight in the splendor?

Hace algunos años largos, estuve reunido en Puerto Colombia con mis grandes amigos Don Andrés Salcedo González periodista y escritor, ya fallecido, y en esa reunión de algunos empresarios, estaba la gerente del Hotel la señora NENA BOTERO. Ellos me pidieron mi opinión, por ser de Cartagena ciudad turística y como ex director de Turismo de esta. Mi intervención se sintetizo en la siguiente frase, parecida a la que en ese momento escribo que es aplicable a PIOJÓ: Tiene Puerto Colombia todas las virtudes para volverse en fuente agradable para el turismo. Pero, nunca saquen de la ecuación, a la gente que nació aquí, porque ellos son su referente histórico, y porque siembran semillas de discordia, que germinan muy rápido, para abrir brechas sociales que son difíciles de borrar. Tampoco encarezcan sus tierras en exageración, porque la convierten en imposibles. Para el caso de Piojo, sería una incoherencia con el nombre de la Fundación en ya dejaría de ser para todos y si para los que pueden.

But, never take the people who were born here out of the equation, because they are your historical reference, and because they sow seeds of discord, which germinate very quickly, to open social gaps that are difficult to erase. Don’t make your land too expensive either, because it makes it impossible. In the case of Piojo, it would be inconsistency with the name of the Foundation as it would no longer be for everyone but for those who can.

El día 1 de septiembre, de este año, se tiene organizada la expedición en modo ciclístico a la cima de Piojó y partirá del emblemático SOMBRERO VUELTIAO, que está a unos 45 kilómetros de Barranquilla y aproximadamente 60 de la ciudad de Cartagena.
