The Red City «Marrakech» named for the red color that predominates in almost all its buildings. Marrakech is a modern city that has maintained its customs and traditions over the years and at the same time has the air of a big city.

Awarded by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Marrakech is located in the Central region of Morocco surrounded by the snow-capped mountains of the High Atlas, cradle of Mosques, Madrasas, Sanctuaries and where the most famous Islamic monument «La Koutoubia» stands imposingly. Mosque built by the Almodóvares in the 12th century, this being the symbol of the City. Its height of 77 meters means that it can be seen from any part of the city. It is a place of worship only for Muslims.

A poca distancia de “La Koutoubia” y en el mismo corazón de la Medina se encuentre la muy conocida “Plaza Djemaa el Fna” que ofrece un espectáculo único al aire libre. Charlatanes, culebras que bailan al son de flautas, vendedores de especerías y amuletos para la buena suerte y protección de toda clase de males se reúnen en un espectáculo fascinante.

A short distance from «La Koutoubia» and in the very heart of the Medina is the well-known «Plaza Djemaa el Fna» which offers a unique outdoor show. Charlatans, snakes that dance to the sound of flutes, sellers of spices and amulets for good luck and protection from all kinds of evils come together in a fascinating spectacle.

Very close to the square are the famous Sucos, open-air markets where you can buy handmade items such as carpets, ceramics, items made of bronze, silver, silk clothing and more. Haggling is recommended to acquire one of them, Moroccans are very good negotiators and are used to haggling.

El recorrido desde la “Medina” (Ciudad Antigua) hacia la parte moderna de Marrakech no es muy largo, se podría tomar un taxi, pero es recomendable caminar para apreciar sus construcciones de fachadas rojas, grandes avenidas con anchas veredas adornadas por enfiladas palmeras que hacen que la caminata sea fascinante.

Composed of a pool of water that resembles a small lake and surrounded by forty olive plants watered with the water of the Atlas Mountains and also offers a fascinating view of the snowy Atlas Mountains. La gastronomía marroquí se encuentra entre las más variadas del mundo. Presenta una combinación de vegetales, carnes de todo tipo y especerías como el azafrán, comino, cúrcuma, canela, Jengibre, chile (harissa) la cayena y más.

El plato típico es el “El Tajíne” Que recibe su nombre por el recipiente en que se elabora. Es una cuidada pieza de cerámica con una tapa cónica. Lo preparan con Cuscús, alimento básico, pasta fina de trigo, vegetales, dátiles, aceitunas, carne de cordero y condimentado con una variedad de especerías.

The typical dish is “El Tajíne” which receives its name from the container in which it is made. It is a careful piece of ceramic with a conical lid. They prepare it with Couscous, a basic food, fine wheat pasta, vegetables, dates, olives, lamb meat and seasoned with a variety of spices.

Another Moroccan delicacy is Pastilla, a combination of sweet and savory, a cake made with thin sheets of puff pastry and any type of meat, vegetables, almonds and aromatic spices. It is generally reserved for special occasions. Which certainly is visiting Morocco!

Los amantes de las sopas podrán disfrutar de una deliciosa sopa llamada Harira, sopa a base de tomate, garbanzos y lentejas. Además, ofrecen Brochetas (carnes a la parrilla) Chebakia (galletas de césame fritas) en fin, una infinidad de delicias para cualquier paladar.

Soup lovers can enjoy a delicious soup called Harira, a tomato, chickpea and lentil based soup. In addition, they offer Skewers (grilled meats) Chebakia (fried Caesar cookies) in short, an infinite number of delights for any palate.

All these delicacies are always accompanied and served with sweets and the traditional Mint Leaf Tea, which is traditionally poured from the top of the glass, this being the first thing they offer the visitor as a gesture of Moroccan hospitality.
