Medellín, la segunda ciudad mas importante de Colombia, se prepara este fin de semana para vivir una de su mas hermoso evento de los múltiples que se celebran en Colombia. La Feria de las Flores, uno de los eventos culturales más importante del país, ya que se resguarda el patrimonio inmaterial de los famosos silleteros tradicionales de Antioquia, que desde 1957 en el mes de agosto nos muestran sus orgullosas obras de arte en flores, plasmada en cada una de las silletas que nos llegan desde el municipio de Santa Elena.

Medellín, the second most important city in Colombia, is preparing this weekend to live one of its most beautiful events of the many that are held in Colombia. The Flower Fair, one of the most important cultural events in the country, since it protects the intangible heritage of the famous traditional saddle makers of Antioquia, who since 1957 in the month of August show us their proud works of art in flowers, embodied in each of the saddles that come to us from the municipality of Santa Elena.

Toda Medellín en esta época se llena de Flores, Plazas, Centro Comerciales, pueblos todo Antioquia es una sola cuando los silleteros y los silletericos pasan por Medellín, todos somos uno es el grito de tradición de los orgullos paisas que se volcán este 07 de agosto a ver pasar y mirar las silletas florecidas que adornan este magno evento.

¿Y Que es una silleta?, es un hermoso instrumento en madera, que se adapta a la espalda, con el fin de portar cargas o personas, con cuerdas o fajas en los hombros y cabeza del cargador.

El desfile de silleteros se celebra para conmemorar la Batalla de Boyacá y la Independencia de Antioquia. El culto a las flores hace parte del homenaje a la mujer, la fertilidad y a la vida. Claveles, gladiolos, girasoles, rosas, cartuchos, azucenas, orquídeas, pompones y pinochos, adornan las majestuosas silletas de las cuales son de 4 tipos emblemática, monumental, tradicional y la comercial. Los silleteros y la feria de las flores son patrimonio cultural de la Nación desde el 26 de septiembre del 2003.

The silleteros parade is held to commemorate the Battle of Boyacá and the Independence of Antioquia. The cult of flowers is part of the homage to women, fertility and life. Carnations, gladioli, sunflowers, roses, cartouches, lilies, orchids, pompoms and pinocchios, adorn the majestic chairs of which there are 4 emblematic, monumental, traditional and commercial types. The silleteros and the flower fair are cultural heritage of the Nation since September 26, 2003.
