WE ARE ANGELS…Cartagena’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Resolución DM 412, por lo cual se incluye la manifestación “Ángeles Somos “en Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, en la lista representativa de Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de ámbito nacional se aprueba su Plan Especial de Salvaguardia. (PES)

El patrimonio cultural inmaterial está constituido, entre otros por las manifestaciones. prácticas, usos, representaciones, expresiones, conocimientos, técnicas y espacios culturales, que las comunidades y los grupos reconocen como parte integrante de su patrimonio cultural. Este patrimonio genera sentimientos de identidad y establece vínculos con la memoria colectiva. Es trasmitido y recreado a lo largo del tiempo en función de su entorno, su interacción con la naturaleza y su historia, y contribuye a promover el respecto de la diversidad cultural y la creatividad humana.

Intangible cultural heritage consists, among other things, of the manifestations, practices, uses, representations, expressions, knowledge, techniques, and cultural spaces that communities and groups recognize as an integral part of their cultural heritage. This heritage generates feelings of identity and establishes links with collective memory. It is transmitted and recreated over time based on its environment, its interaction with nature, and its history, and contributes to promoting respect for cultural diversity and human creativity.

Después de un proceso por muchos años se logro materializar este sueño de Cartagena de Indias, de los Sociólogos Rosa Diaz de Paniagua y de Raúl Paniagua de la Fundación Ángeles somos en este mes de agosto le fue entregado el galardón que amerita a Ángeles somos Patrimonio Cultural inmaterial de Colombia.

After a process lasting many years, this dream of Cartagena de Indias, of sociologists Rosa Diaz de Paniagua and Raúl Paniagua of the Ángeles Somos Foundation, was realized. This August, Ángeles Somos was awarded the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Colombia award.

Antecedentes / Background.

Celebración que hacían los niños en el norte de España, y que en la Costa Colombiana se fusiona con las tradiciones de España con los usos de los aborígenes indios y la influencia de los negros africanos, para dar por resultado nuestras propias costumbres e igual se pide el 01 de noviembre viandas para preparar el tradicional sancocho en la olla que con palitos sirve como tambor para cantar la tradicional copla de Ángeles somos…del cielo venimos. Pidiendo limosnas…para nosotros mismos. Y se le agregan elementos propios de la cultura local, alabanzas y críticas de la idiosincrasia y el humor de la región costeña.

A celebration celebrated by children in northern Spain, which on the Colombian coast merges with Spanish traditions, the customs of indigenous peoples, and the influence of Black Africans, resulting in our own customs. On November 1st, we also ask for food to prepare the traditional sancocho (meat stew) in a pot with sticks used as a drum to sing the traditional song «We are angels…we come from heaven.» Asking for alms…for ourselves. And we add elements of the local culture, praise, and criticism of the idiosyncrasies and humor of the coastal region.

Este primero de noviembre, como es tradicional se celebrará la Gran Fiesta de Ángeles Somos, ya como Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Nación, Fundaciones, Escuelas y Colegios de Niños y adolescentes, alumnos del Diplomado de Ángeles Somos y toda la ciudad de Cartagena estaremos participando y cantando ANGELES SOMOS DEL CIELO VENIMOS….

This November 1st, as is traditional, the Great Festival of Ángeles Somos will be celebrated, now as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation, Foundations, Schools and Colleges for Children and adolescents, students of the Ángeles Somos Diploma and the entire city of Cartagena will be participating and singing ANGELS WE ARE FROM HEAVEN….
