Son muchas las historias que se cuentan, conozco una en donde se narra la historia de una niña fallecida que permaneció unida a su muñeca y de un hombre que intentó, sin éxito, revivirla al hallarla en la orilla del lago. La verdad detrás de esta historia es incierta: ¿será que la niña todavía desea su muñeca, o acaso la muñeca se ha apropiado del alma de la niña, generando caos? También se especula que al intentar rescatar a la niña y quitarle la muñeca, el espíritu maligno invadió al hombre, llevándolo a la locura y guiándolo a crear y colgar las muñecas que hoy decoran cada rincón de la Isla de las Muñecas.

There are many stories that are told, I know one where the story is told of a deceased girl who remained attached to her doll and of a man who tried, unsuccessfully, to revive her when he found her on the shore of the lake. The truth behind this story is uncertain: could it be that the girl still wants her doll, or has the doll taken over the girl’s soul, creating chaos? It is also speculated that when trying to rescue the girl and take the doll from her, the evil spirit invaded the man, driving him to madness and guiding him to create and hang the dolls that today decorate every corner of the Island of the Dolls.

Se dice que en cada una de ellas reside un espíritu maligno que aguarda el momento de desatar una batalla entre el bien y el mal, formando una legión hambrienta de odio que busca la destrucción y el caos en la tierra. Muchos visitantes de la isla afirman sentir las miradas de las muñecas, con rostros distorsionados y ojos saltones, que parecen contener algo en su
interior. Se ha estipulado que se puede llevar una muñeca como ofrenda, pero nunca se debe retirar ninguna de la isla, ya que hacerlo acarrearía una maldición de por vida, con una muerte lenta y dolorosa, y el alma condenada a un infierno eterno, posiblemente atrapada en otra de esas muñecas.
