Sobre su denominación no hay unanimidad, pero una teoría indica que flamenco deriva del término andalusí ‘fellah min gueir ard’, expresión que significa algo así como ‘campesino sin tierra’. Y aunque su nacimiento se fija en el siglo XVIII, el flamenco tiene sus raíces en épocas anteriores, incluyendo elementos de danza y musicales de otras culturas anteriores y cuyo mestizaje dio lugar al surgimiento de este arte andaluz. La cultura que se asocia al Flamenco es la gitana, ya que es la que más a aportado al desarrollo de este arte asi como las influencias africanas y caribeñas.
