Cross denunciations between police officers and officials of the same police station, often resolved by shelving the inquiries under the authority of the highest-ranking officer; complaints of various nature and importance from lawmakers against officials, whether retired or still in active duty, including corruption, floating in a viscous sea of generally innocuous political discussions; and complaints of different origins, including those from the Parliamentary Commissioner for this area, reaching the realm of justice, the kingdom of prosecutors, and being consumed by time, while the shadow of mistrust looms ominously over the police institution and the judiciary itself. Ultimately, the stubborn reality of overall failure, of management too damaged by holes of suspicion and meager results from various loudly announced programs, which, until now, and let’s set aside the sometimes laughable and highly manipulated statistics on crimes committed year after year.
