I CALL HIM: THE TENOR OF THE AMERICAS «CARLOS CASTRO».

Este maravilloso amigo, bohemio de nacimiento, nació en una de las ciudades más bellas de Colombia, denominada como el Eje cafetero. Me refiero a la ciudad teatral de Colombia que lleva por nombre: MANIZALEZ, o piedras de maní. A ello se debe su significado. Si alguien pisa esa tierra, a lo mejor piensa que se trajeron un puñado de España, para incrustarlo en el corazón del café, porque allí en esa región, lo que hay es café, con aroma de mujer. ¡Todas bellas! A fin de cuentas, son paisas, que hablan con un acento que enamora, con unos ojos que iluminan, y con cuerpos que enloquecen.

This wonderful friend, bohemian by birth, was born in one of the most beautiful cities in Colombia, called the Coffee Axis. I am referring to the theatrical city of Colombia that is named: MANIZALEZ, or peanut stones. That is why its meaning is due. Cuentan que los curas y religiosos, usan muchas gafas oscuras, para que la tentación de ver y no querer tocar, no se note. Carlos las usa, sin ser cura. Otros, se tapan un ojo, para no pecar por los dos. Entonces dicen: Que se me joda el otro ojo, pero hay que ver. De verdad, son bellísimas.

Encontramos costumbres que se remiten a la usanza española, sobre todo la tauromaquia, los pasodobles, el baile, el canto y la ejecución de instrumentos como el tiple y la guitarra. Allí, hasta tocar la puerta, tiene armonía y besas a una mujer es música.

Tienes más de cuarenta años de vivir en la ciudad de Barranquilla, donde lo conocí hace 20, que, para entonces, era un ejecutivo de la empresa suramericana de seguros SURA.

La empresa tiene como símbolo a un tigre.

En una de esas llamadas, le dice Carlos al insistente señor: Mira “ombe”, aquí me entere que hay un trabajo, que, por media hora, te pagan dos millones de pesos. El solicitante alegre le pregunta: ¿Don Carlos, y… que hay que hacer? Este con aquella sonrisa entre labios le dice: Pues mi viejo, nada del otro mundo. Solo tienes que sacar al Tigre a orinar, dos veces en el día y listo. El solicitante del trabajo le respondió: Gracias lo consultare con mi esposa.

In one of those calls, Carlos says to the insistent man: Look “ombe”, here I found out that there is a job, that, for half an hour, they pay you two million pesos. Nos enteramos después, que la suegra no gustaba de su yerno y le dijo a la hija: Ese un buen trabajo dile a Pepe, (el esposo de la hija), que lo acepte. Nunca se supo del caso, pero el tigre tampoco se lo comió, porque los emblemas no comen.
Ahí está pintado el humor de Carlos.

We found out later that the mother-in-law did not like her son-in-law and told her daughter: That’s a good job, tell Pepe (the daughter’s husband) to accept it. The case was never heard of, but the tiger did not eat it either, because emblems do not eat. Carlos’s humor is painted there.

Es de esas personas, que cuando está en el trabajo, es amable, pero “psicorrigido”. Es vertical, insobornable, de una sola pieza. Es muy organizado y cumplidor de su deber, y de las citas. Tiene adoración por sus hijos y nietos, y se desvive por ellos.
Como amigo, es muy especial. Atento, servidor y gran colaborador.
