Blanco Sobre Negro Producciones, a member of the Point of Reference media pool, has reached twenty groups and soloists that have been recorded in this project.

Blanco Sobre Negro Producciones, miembro del pool de medios Punto de referencia, ha llegado a la veintena de grupos y solistas que han sido grabados en este proyecto.

Blanco Sobre Negro Producciones https://grupo.blancosobrenegro.es/ continues its work promoting culture in general and music in particular. They have already recorded concerts by various interesting artists such as Andrés Carlos Manchado in classical music, Alba Espert in the world of flamenco, or Antonio Luna and Celia Ruiz in Spanish copla and pop music. Their music promotion efforts have not been limited to recording and promoting concerts. They have also produced documentaries such as «Flamenco Women: Women in Flamenco» and «Danzadas».

Now this production company faces a new challenge: small space, live music, but big concerts. This is CONCERTS IN THE ART STUDIO. An example of good work in promoting Spanish groups and solo artists.

Ahora esta productora se enfrenta a un nuevo reto: espacio pequeño, música en directo, pero grandes conciertos. Esto es CONCERTS IN THE ART STUDIO. Un ejemplo de buen hacer en la promoción de grupos y solistas españoles.

Today we interviewed the director of this project, José Manuel Rosario. Director of the production company in charge of recording, editing, and distributing the work in media.

Hoy entrevistamos al realizador de este proyecto, José Manuel Rosario. Director de la productora que se encarga de la grabación de imagen, montaje y distribución en medios del trabajo realizado.

Good morning, José Manuel. How did CONCERTS IN THE ART STUDIO come to be?

Buenos días, José Manuel. ¿Cómo nace CONCERTS IN THE ART STUDIO?

Concerts is born from the research in the world of social networks. Our production company is constantly investigating everything that happens in them around the world. We consider ourselves a current production company that creates products for today. There, together with the artist Francis Arroyo Ceballos, we saw that there were some ideas for Tiny Concerts, concerts that are close or tiny because of the size of the venue, that could be ideal for many groups and soloists to showcase their work to the world. And we decided that doing it in a studio of a plastic artist would be distinctive and unique.

Concerts nace de la investigación en el mundo de las redes sociales. Nuestra productora está de forma continuada investigando todo aquello que se hace en ellas en todo el mundo. Nos consideramos una productora actual que hace productos para hoy. Ahí, junto al artista Francis Arroyo Ceballos, vimos que había algunas ideas de Tiny Concerts, conciertos cercanos o diminutos por el tamaño de la sala, que podrían ser idóneos para que muchos grupos y solistas pudieran mostrar su trabajo a todo el mundo. Y decidimos que hacerlo en un estudio de un artista plástico sería diferencial y único.

What difficulties are there in recording this type of concerts?

¿Qué dificultades tiene grabar este tipo de conciertos?

The greatest difficulty we have encountered has been to search for the truth. The truth of sound, the truth of music and of the voice. There, the work that musician and music producer Paco Marín is doing is immense.

La mayor dificultad que hemos encontrado ha sido buscar la verdad. La verdad del sonido, la verdad de la música y de la voz. Ahí el trabajo que está haciendo el músico y productor musical, Paco Marín, es ímprobo.

The audio and video equipment that is transported to the artist’s studio is immense. As good as, or better than, some static recording studios.

El equipo de audio y video que se transporta hasta el estudio del artista es inmenso. Tan bueno o mejor que algunos estudios de grabación estáticos.

Some of the recordings that have been made, to give an example, have used 14 audio tracks plus the independent audio collected by the cameras. Such audio serves as synchronization or ambient sound.

Another vital task without which no day could start is the triple role of a woman like Gladys Hidalgo-Gato.

Next to the work of helping with the daily organization and setup, there’s the role of the musical coach. They are in charge of searching or screening, in each case, the groups and soloists that will participate in this project. Not everyone who wants to can participate, as both the space and time are limited.

Junto a la labor de ayuda en la organización y montaje diario. Su labor como coach musical. Se encarga de la búsqueda o criba, en cada caso, de los grupos y solistas que van a participar en este trabajo. No todos los que quieren pueden participar. El espacio y el tiempo es limitado.

How long does it take to record each concert?

¿Qué tiempo se tarda en grabar cada concierto?

The idea, as I said at the beginning, is the truth. Therefore, everything is always done in one go. We are in a real concert, with an audience, very few, but an audience, and it has to be done like that.

La idea, como dije al principio, es la verdad. Por ello, siempre, se realiza todo de un “tirón”. Estamos en un concierto real, con público, muy poco, pero público, y hay que hacerlo así.

Therefore, what is a recording lasts as long as we broadcast it. Not much more. A little rehearsal and that’s it. Of course, the assembly of cameras and audio takes a significant amount of time. But in one morning, we wrap up each concert and sometimes two on the same day.

Por ello, lo que es una grabación, dura lo mismo que emitimos. Poco más. Un poco de ensayo y ya está. Claro el montaje, de cámaras y audio, se lleva un tiempo importante. Pero en una mañana liquidamos cada concierto y, a veces, dos en el mismo día.

But that’s not all, is it?

That’s just the beginning. Then comes the work of Paco Marín, making sure that the best sound comes out of all the recorded tracks, and then come the days of video editing, a task carried out by the team I lead at Blanco Sobre Negro Producciones. Synchronization, color, a thousand things… to deliver the best possible final product.

Eso es solo el principio. Luego viene el trabajo de estudio de Paco Marín, que cuadre, que salga el mejor sonido de todas las pistas grabadas, y a continuación vienen los días de montaje del vídeo, trabajo que realiza el equipo que lidero en Blanco Sobre Negro Producciones. Sincronización, color, mil cosas…para dejar el mejor producto final posible.

Where can these concerts be seen?

The recordings are actually being produced for the online television channel 50TV (www.50tv.es), a channel whose sole interest is the promotion of culture. Additionally, other channels, such as SOLO MÚSICA, within the Cultural Television Platform of Spain (www.televisioncultural.es), are broadcasting them. Along with them, 101 TV and other channels have requested their broadcast.

También, ya otros canales, como SOLO MÚSICA, dentro de la Plataforma de Televisión Cultural de España (www.televisioncultural.es) los están emitiendo. Junto a ellos 101 TV y otros canales nos han solicitado su emisión.

Of course, a specific YouTube channel has been created so that everyone can enjoy their favorite artist’s concert at any time.

This leads us to think of a long future for this program. Its establishment on the screens of various televisions and, of course, the growth of the program’s networks.

Ideas for spin-offs of the program have also been initiated. Such as interviews with specific artists.
