Desde Barranquilla, la Procuradora General de la Nación, Margarita Cabello Blanco, reiteró ante los Defensores del Pueblo de Iberoamérica, su preocupación frente a la crisis migratoria que viene afectando a todos los países de la región, principalmente por la alarmante vulneración de derechos humanos a esta población.

En su intervención, la jefe del Ministerio Público afirmó que, la grave situación aumenta por la permisividad de algunas autoridades en los controles migratorios, la existencia de alternativas ilegales y riesgosas a las que se ven obligados a recurrir los migrantes, escenarios que trascienden la jurisdicción de un solo país y que hace más difícil la prevención y erradicación de este fenómeno.

Ante este panorama, la Procuradora Cabello Blanco pidió a los representantes de las instituciones de derechos humanos de Panamá, Venezuela, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua y México, insistir a sus respectivos gobiernos para la adopción de medidas que permitan una migración segura, regular y ordenada; y de manera paralela, combatir delitos trasnacionales derivados como la trata de personas, el tráfico de migrantes, la inducción a la prostitución y el lavado de activos.

Así mismo, la procuradora precisó que los procesos de migración irregular e ilegal están siendo liderados como fuentes de ingresos ilícitas por grandes clanes y organizaciones al margen de la ley, por ser un fenómeno y un negocio ilegal con grandes rentabilidades, que pone en riesgo a la población, el medio ambiente y la seguridad, tanto nacional como hemisférica.
