The Colombian NATALIA BEDOYA, New Executive Director of the World Tourism Organization (OMT).

La colombiana que está al frente de la Dirección Ejecutiva de la Organización Mundial del Turismo OMT desde este 01 de julio de 2023 es Natalia Bedoya. Es el segundo cargo más importante en esta organización mundial. Asimismo, es la primera mujer latina menor de 40 años que asume tan importante cargo, destacándose como la colombiana con el cargo más alto en las Naciones Unidas.
The Colombian woman at the helm of the Executive Directorate of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) since July 1st, 2023, is Natalia Bedoya. This is the second most important position in this global organization. Moreover, she is the first young Latin woman under 40 to assume such a significant role, standing out as the Colombian with the highest position in the United Nations.
Natalia, toda su vida se ha dedicado a estas labores en el turismo, estuvo en Procolombia por más de 10 años, hizo parte de esa gran campaña: «Colombia, el riesgo es que te quieras quedar». Trabajó como funcionaria de Colombia de Turismo en Argentina, Chile y después a sus 27 años se convirtió en la Gerente más joven de Procolombia.
Natalia, her whole life has been dedicated to these tourism tasks. She worked at Procolombia for over 10 years and was part of that great campaign: «Colombia, the risk is that you’ll want to stay.» She worked as a Tourism Representative for Colombia in Argentina and Chile, and then, at the age of 27, she became the youngest Manager at Procolombia.
Fue la primera persona en la OMT que trabajó en el departamento de Innovación, Educación e Inversiones, en un trabajo con los 160 países que pertenecen a la organización mundial, para que el turismo creciera como sector económico, y se afianzara la educación en turismo como motor central de estos países afiliados, así mismo poder lograr que el Turismo se convierta en una materia de clases en los planteles educativos de cada país y así enseñarles todo lo que realmente es el turismo para un país, región o destino turístico.
He was the first person in the WTO to work in the Department of Innovation, Education and Investments, in a job involving the 160 countries that belong to the World Organization, so that tourism would grow as an economic sector, and education in tourism would be strengthened as a central driving force for these affiliated countries. Likewise, it was possible to make Tourism become a subject taught in educational institutions in each country, and thus teach them everything that tourism truly represents for a country, region, or tourist destination.
Desde Cartagena de Indias, Colombia le damos la bienvenida a Natalia, ya que también bajo su responsabilidad se realizara el 27 de Septiembre el DIA MUNDIAL DEL TURISMO, cuyo lema del 2023 es «TURISMO E INVERSIONES VERDES» . Así mismo la Federación Internacional de Escritores y Periodista de Turismo de las Américas, FIJET AMERICAS envía mensaje de felicitación a esta gran mujer, ejecutiva del Turismo Mundial.
