Ocio espectáculo: culturales (teatro, zarzuela, opera, cine, danza, musica instrumental) deportivos (práctica de algún deporte) ocio alternativo, tiene dos vertientes ocio alternativo nocturno, generalmente dirigido a jóvenes desde los institutos del estado, alternativa más sana a sus salidas nocturnas y una nueva rama del ocio alternativo; ocio no convencional, no deportivo y no de espectáculo cuyo participante es actor principal de su ocio, llamado ocio experimental.
Utilizando como criterio la participación de las personas tenemos Ocio activo: el participante es receptor y emisor de estímulos. Ocio pasivo: el participante es únicamente receptor de estímulos.
