After signing, Trident offers the group a new recording system and new instruments. Brian May opted to keep his homemade guitar. They brought in Jack Nelson as manager, he had given advice to the group in the past. Nelson even showed demo tapes of Queen to EMI, but the negotiation did not work out. Although no company appeared to distribute the Queen album, the group opened the 24-track Sheffield to record their first album and were granted the use of time slots when no one needed the studio, in the morning or at early mornings resulting in recordings produced casually.
