Gabriel José de la Concordia García Márquez, was born in Aracataca, Colombia on March 6, 1927. Writer, novelist, short story writer, screenwriter and journalist. In 1982 he received the Nobel Prize for Literature. Known familiarly and by friends as Gabito or Gabo.
