COLOMBIA: GOVERNMENT SUPPORT CLAIMS IN VILLA MADERA!

A un margen de la vía que, de Soacha a Sibaté, en Cundinamarca, departamento ubicado en el corazón de Colombia, se encuentran treinta y siete familias hacinadas, contra viento y marea, en medio de calles sin pavimentar y llenas de baches con escorrentías descontroladas, tal como lo evidenciamos en el video que compartimos a continuación:

On the side of the road that, from Soacha to Sibaté, in Cundinamarca, a department located in the heart of Colombia, there are thirty-seven families crowded together, against wind and tide, in the middle of unpaved streets full of potholes with uncontrolled runoff, as evidenced in the video which we share below:

VILLA MADERA, como le llaman al asentamiento de seres humanos deseosos de seguir adelante, por encima de las adversidades cotidianas, está compuesto por cerca de medio centenar de viviendas humildes de tablas (de madera para ser más precisos, a lo que se le debe el nombre), de escasos espacios donde habitan con mucha dignidad familias enteras, padres, madres, hijos y nietos.

VILLA MADERA, as they call the settlement of human beings eager to move forward, above daily adversities, is made up of about fifty humble houses made of boards (wood to be more precise, to which the name), with few spaces where entire families, fathers, mothers, children and grandchildren live with great dignity.

Adicionalmente, muchos de sus habitantes dependen su sustento del trabajo con la madera reciclada, tal como nos lo testimonia uno de los fundadores de Villa Madera, Marco Tulio Villamizar, padre y abuelo morador del sector desde sus inicios.

Additionally, many of its inhabitants depend for their livelihood on working with recycled wood, as witnessed by one of the founders of Villa Madera, Marco Tulio Villamizar, father and grandfather who has lived in the sector since its inception.

Aun cuando son seres humanos, dignos de ser tratados en forma justa, hasta el momento lo único que han recibido, por parte de la administración municipal, son amenazas de demolición de sus casas humildes, ¨ranchos” como les llaman ellos mismos con cariño a sus pequeñas moradas donde albergan a sus descendientes.

Even though they are human beings, worthy of being treated fairly, so far the only thing they have received, from the municipal administration, are threats to demolish their humble houses, «ranchos» as they affectionately call them. their small dwellings where they house their descendants.

Al amanecer cada día dan gracias a Dios por encontrarse aún en sus lugares de habitación y para muchos de ellos y ellas sus lugares de trabajo.

At dawn each day they thank God for still being in their places of habitation and for many of them their places of work.

Las amenazas se repiten constantemente, les dicen que pronto serán desalojados sin hablarles para nada de reubicación, que es lo menos que deben ofrecerles las autoridades del orden local (alcaldía), regional (gobernación) y nacional (Presidencia).

The threats are repeated constantly, they tell them that they will soon be evicted without talking to them at all about relocation, which is the least that the local (mayor), regional (government) and national (Presidency) authorities should offer them.

Acorde con las autoridades del Banco Mundial, https://www.bancomundial.org/es/topic/urbandevelopment/overview nos parece apropiado que el gobierno nacional, los gobiernos regionales y locales adopten las medidas pertinentes con tal de resolver una problemática reinante en las ciudades capitales e intermedias de Colombia, quienes en unas declaraciones enfatizaron: “Construir ciudades que “funcionen” —que sean verdes, resilientes e inclusivas— requiere una intensa coordinación de políticas y decisiones sobre inversión. «Los Gobiernos nacionales y locales desempeñan un papel importante: deben actuar ahora, configurar el desarrollo futuro de las ciudades y crear oportunidades para todas las personas.”  Estimamos que la Presidencia, los Gobernadores y los Alcaldes deben armonizar sus políticas públicas tendientes a agilizar las soluciones prontas que se requieren a favor de las familias que se encuentran en condiciones de alta vulnerabilidad, tal como las que evidenciamos de Villa Madera, sector ubicado entre Soacha y Sibaté, en el departamento de Cundinamarca, corazón de Colombia.

In accordance with the authorities of the World Bank, https://www.bancomundial.org/es/topic/urbandevelopment/overview it seems appropriate that the national government, regional and local governments adopt the pertinent measures in order to solve a prevailing problem in the capital and intermediate cities of Colombia, who in a statement emphasized: “Building cities that “work”—that are green, resilient and inclusive—requires intense coordination of policies and investment decisions. «National and local governments have an important role to play: they must act now, shape the future development of cities and create opportunities for all people.» We believe that the Presidency, the Governors and the Mayors should harmonize their public policies tending to expedite the prompt solutions that are required in favor of families that are in conditions of high vulnerability, such as those that we evidence of Villa Madera, a sector located between Soacha and Sibaté, in the department of Cundinamarca, in the heart of Colombia.

Villa Madera merece ser tenida muy en cuenta para evitar su demolición anunciada.

Villa Madera deserves to be taken into account to avoid its announced demolition.
