COLOMBIA: On November 4, Mayor Virna Johnson awarded the winners of the II District Story Contest ‘A Sea Between Lines’

La destacada labor de la Alcaldesa de Santa Marta en Colombia la Sra. Lic.: Virna Johnson siempre es motivo de noticia que traspasa fronteras, gracias a su labor sin precedentes en favor de los Samarios haciendo Marca Colombia en cada paso que da.

The outstanding work of the Mayor of Santa Marta in Colombia, Ms. Lic.: Virna Johnson, is always a source of news that crosses borders, thanks to her unprecedented work in favor of the Samarios, making Marca Colombia in every step she takes.

117 cuentos fueron inscritos en el concurso «Un Mar entre Líneas» de los cuales, 78 pasaron el filtro en las categorías infantil, juvenil, y adulta. Uno de «los objetivos de esta iniciativa es justamente la de incentivar los procesos de escritura y fortalecer capacidades críticas, reflexivas y creativas.

117 stories were entered in the «A Sea Between Lines» contest, of which 78 passed the filter in the children’s, youth, and adult categories. One of «the objectives of this initiative is precisely to encourage writing processes and strengthen critical, reflective and creative capacities.

La Alcaldía de Santa Marta, a través de la Megabiblioteca 500 Años realizó con éxito el II Concurso Distrital de Cuento ‘Un Mar Entre Líneas’, para que los samarios expresaran su amor por la ciudad y se motivaran a mostrar su talento en escritura y creatividad literaria. Las categorías premiadas fueron: infantil, en la que se inscribieron 18 cuentos; juvenil con 24, y en la adulta que tuvo a 36 participantes.

The Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta, through the 500 Years Megabiblioteca, successfully carried out the II District Story Contest ‘A Sea Between Lines’, so that the samariums could express their love for the city and be motivated to show their talent in writing and creativity literary. The award-winning categories were: children’s, in which 18 stories were entered; juvenile with 24, and in the adult that had 36 participants.

El jurado escogido, destacó 23 escritos a los que se les entregó diploma de participación, premios a los 3 ganadores por el mismo número de categorías que estuvieron habilitadas con sus certificados correspondientes y 3 menciones de honor por las categorías antes mencionadas.

The chosen jury highlighted 23 writings to which they were awarded a certificate of participation, prizes to the 3 winners for the same number of categories that were enabled with their corresponding certificates and 3 honorable mentions for the aforementioned categories.

“Buscamos incentivar el hábito de la lectura y la escritura, así como la capacidad de escribir, leer y narrar todo lo que se sueñan e imaginan”, indicó la alcaldesa Virna Johnson al entregar los premios a los ganadores y manifestó que seguirá trabajando por la creación de estas iniciativas para que Santa Marta tenga cada día más arte, cultura y empoderamiento para los niños y jóvenes.

«We seek to encourage the habit of reading and writing, as well as the ability to write, read and narrate everything they dream and imagine,» said Mayor Virna Johnson when awarding the prizes to the winners and stated that she will continue working for the creation of these initiatives so that Santa Marta has more art, culture and empowerment for children and young people every day.

La revisión y escogencia de cuentos se dio con jurados destinados para las categorías como el escritor Celso Román; la escritora, pedagoga de preescolar con especialidad en música y literatura María del Sol Peralta y la escritora de cienaguera Samarys Polo. Así mismo, la escritora Clarisa Ruiz Correal, el escritor Alejandro Cortés y el profesional en políticas públicas culturales y análisis de material bibliográfico, Edwin Estrada; el escritor samario Joaquín Mattos Omar; el abogado y escritor John Jairo Junieles y el escritor y periodista Cristian Valencia, bajo los criterios de evaluación: Calidad en el uso del lenguaje, originalidad, estructura, desarrollo de los personajes, historias ambientadas en la geografía samaria local, que aprovecharan momentos y/o personajes históricos de Santa Marta.

The review and selection of stories took place with juries assigned to categories such as the writer Celso Román; the writer, preschool pedagogue with a specialty in music and literature María del Sol Peralta and the writer from Cienaguera Samarys Polo.Likewise, the writer Clarisa Ruiz Correal, the writer Alejandro Cortés and the professional in cultural public policies and analysis of bibliographic material, Edwin Estrada; the samarian writer Joaquín Mattos Omar; the lawyer and writer John Jairo Junieles and the writer and journalist Cristian Valencia, under the evaluation criteria: Quality in the use of language, originality, structure, character development, stories set in the local samarian geography, that take advantage of moments and/or or historical figures from Santa Marta.

Cabe recordar, en el año 2021 la Megabiblioteca Distrital 500 años desde su proceso de fortalecimiento de proyectos de lectura y escritura ha adelantado una serie de programas que permiten acercar a la comunidad a la lectura y la escritura. Es así como nace el concurso de cuento que en la versión anterior tenía por nombre Ramón Illán Bacca en homenaje a uno de los principales escritores samarios.

It should be remembered that in 2021, the District Megalibrary, 500 years after its process of strengthening reading and writing projects, has advanced a series of programs that allow the community to get closer to reading and writing. This is how the story contest was born, which in the previous version was called Ramón Illán Bacca in homage to one of the main samarian writers.
